A very special house really close to the city center. The view from the balcony is fantastic. The hosts are very friendly, helpful and generous people and welcomed us like family. If you are driving a large car it is better to park in the city center. But that's not far away, no problem.

It was a beautiful house, super great owner. He is a tour guide also with a lot of knowledge about Kratovo. Not to miss

Owners were very welcoming. We arrived there pretty late in the evening, both father and son (he's also a local guide) were waiting for us and helped to park and settle in and fed us their locally produced sweet figs in sugar syrup. The view from the balcony was stunning. House itself is 300 years old, very charming in its own way and the owners have in many ways preserved its unikeness and history. We very much enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend it.

Great place to feel the traditional vibe of the town. The owner gave us a very interesting tour around the city. I recomend to hire hiM for this activity.

Beautiful old house, the oldest one among all accomodations in Kratovo, run by a local guide and his father, extremely hospitable and caring! I had absolute great time there, my motorbike was safely parked and covered when rain started. Definitely the best place to stay in Kratovo!

A charming & enigmatic place to stay. The house is full of memorabilia. Jakim, the son of the owners, is an archeologist and deeply knowledgeable about Kratovo's illustrious history. He gave me an impromptu tour of the town in including one of its several towers.

Amazing hosts! So hospitality, so friendly. You definitely need to stay in this place if you want to feel how people lived 100 years ago. This place like a museum.

It’s a beautiful period building with period interior fittings, pictures, bed linen etc. You can feel utterly at home here. I came for one night and stayed three. The family are warm, generous and, because he was born in the town and is an archaeologist, Jakim’s tour of the town is excellent.

This place has a real genuine feel. The welcome is hearty and sincere. You instantly feel that you are among a family that is ready to go out of their way just to please you. Joakim gave me all information I needed as a tourist visiting this area that is full of history and rich in culture. He is an archaeologist. his explanations are priceless. He conducts guided tours in the town for a very reasonable price. Don't hesitate to ask. I was touring with him the small town: I learned things that I could not get from any guide. The house itself is nice. The rooms and beds are comfy, well lit, heated and ventilated. All is clean. Bathrooms are big and plenty for the number of guests. Highly recommended

Flagship of Kratovo are the people from Etno house Shencheva. Always a great atmosphere, great house and the best products such as tomatoes, honey, ajvars, jams, peppers, etc. as well as drinks (rakija, wine) they will treat you to, if you want. Change after the last stay, two bathrooms were created. Hospitality and cats in the garden remain unchanged. Thank you!

I arrived here at the end of a 3-week trip through Albania and North Macedonia. I'm really glad to have rounded off my journey at Etno House Shancheva. It was really nice to come here as a solo traveller, and occupy a room actually intended for lone backpackers. I was the only guest, but the family were super-friendly and I was able to talk, eat and drink with them. Soulful times. I really loved Kratovo and staying here was a big part of why I enjoyed the place so much. It felt personal. l loved the spoonful of honey each morning! Also loved the crazy kittens, and all the insight into archaeology, food, Yugoslavia and local history. I felt like I was in very good company here. Thanks for the memories.

The owner's and family's hospitality was extraordinary. The small details in attending with us in the main quarter and offering local bites of food was greatly appreciated after a long trip. The walking tour through Kratovo explaining it's history was another highlight. Driving up and parking may be a small issue for some. Please call the owner before hand, as they come to the main road to guide you. They also assisted with parking the car at their property. All in all they made the a hard task simplified!
