- This place is amazing, and the interior design is exceptional. Staying at the residency of Jenkov, we could learn his history, read his poems, and even find his poems on the walls of the residency. The owner of this place takes care of every single detail. We love the design of the bathroom door and the social space area! Staying at this place feels like you are staying in a castle full of history, which feels amazing - Centrally located in the old town of Kranj, but in a quieter street so it was very pleasant and not too loud - The beds were very comfortable - The kitchen is well-equipped, and we could find anything that we wanted when we cooked - perfect connection to the buses - Upon arrival, we received keys from the receptionist, who was very kind and helpful. They greeted us with welcoming gifts, explained everything what needed, and in case of questions, they were always available and happy to help

The 'big poet' referred to is Simon Jenko, one of Slovenia's most lauded, and this was how he was described by a young visitor to his former residence. This is both an apartment for rent and an occasional cultural centre, in an excellent location just off the main square in the attractive old town of Kranj. It's not only atmospheric, but well-maintained with a helpful host. The apartment was well-stocked for our visit, and any concerns were dealt with swiftly and efficiently. A USB featuring a documentary on Jenko, who had a hard time at the hands of ill-intentioned critics but became a national treasure, was a welcome gift.

We liked this apartment but would love to see some improvements when we come back. First impression; beautiful, spacious and creative apartment and suits the age of this building. Beds were ok, living room was spacious and comfortable and the kitchen was big enough. The location was wonderful; in the middle of the city center. Check in was friendly and easy. “A beautiful apartment in a very quiet area convenient for local amenities.”

The apartment is part of a historic house, the home of the literary figure, Simon Jenko. It has been beautifully renovated in traditional Slovenia style with a modern twist. The apartment was warm, plenty of hot water and a very comfortable bed. There was a two ring induction hob and a microwave plus plenty of crockery and pans. There was no corkscrew. There is a mini supermarket about 150 m away where you can buy all the basics. The apartment is situated in the Old Town where there are shops such as a butcher and a fishmonger. A number of small museums are situated within the Old Town which is mainly traffic free. It is a short walk to the bus station where you will find buses to the capital city, Ljubljana, Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj. Alternatively you can visit the historic towns of Škofja Loka and Radovljica, both less than half an hour away. Gostilna Kot serves good food. Walk to the far end of Old Kranj and you can look down at the confluence of the rivers Sava and Kokra. The Tourist information office is excellent and encompasses a small gallery. On arrival you check in at this office and staff are most helpful.

This apartment has a fascinating history and I loved the way this had been incorporated in the decoration of the property (poems on the wall etc.). It’s spacious and in a great location in the Old Town. Appreciated the extras liked having a coffee machine and the memory sticks with info about Simon Jenko.

It was in the middle of Kranj, everything was within walking distance. They sended all the information to go there without checking in at the reception because we couldn't be there on time which was perfect.
