Comfortable units, good restaurant. Since there are a lot of mine workers staying at the hotel, the portions are large. I especially liked the fish.

The staff were friendly and helpful and happily changed our room to one facing the sea as we had booked. We enjoyed sitting on our private deck enjoying the sunsets. Secure parking within the complex.

“Not many options to stay at Koumac”

Adequate accommodation at a premium price. Breakfast also seemed overpriced. Bungalows had sitting area outside but we had to move a table and chairs from another veranda as none at our room. It was nice how they didn’t put anyone in the adjoining bungalow to ours… definitely had a blue sea view but need a car to see the area. We did not find anyone here who could communicate in English, but staff were friendly. Koumac does not seem to be a tourist area and there are limited accomodation options during the winter season. Many places including snack and beach activities look permanently closed. There were some traffic noises and early morning banging noises from the commercial centre next door.

Great staff and hospitality, going the extra mile to best accommodate the guests. The restaurant had a diverse menu with plenty of options to choose from, and all we got to try was excellent at a very correct price!

The Karem Bay Hotel was located just off the main highway leading into Koumac. The bungalows were comfortable and had everything that you would expect for the price. The restaurant was good for dinner, which was fortunate as their are few alternatives in Koumac at this time of year. The woman running the front desk (Ocean) was wonderfully helpful with information regarding our car journey the next day and she was also there to talk through the menu at dinner - thank you Ocean! We enjoyed our one night stay and recommend Karem Bay Hotel as a good place to stay.
