“Absolutely terrible - do not book!”
Water damaged and big smell of mold in our room. Could not stay there so hotel helped us arrange another stay. Regretfully they did not even refund us

“This place stole my heart ❤️”
This is the most magical place I’ve ever stayed in, atop a mountain, surrounded by tea plantations, nature, pure tranquility. We extended our stay to 3 nights but I could have stayed there much much longer. This is such a perfect place to unwind and recharge, breathe in the cool mountain air and be looked after by a team of truly lovely people who work there. Things to keep in mind: - the property is only reachable by the shuttle they provide. It’s a 40min drive up steep hills and rocky roads. But don’t worry once you get there you will be greeted by freshly brewed tea from their plantation or a nice local gin. - if you are looking for hustle and bustle, this place is not for you - planters house is far away from nearby shops and any type of infrastructure. This is a place for nature lovers, who want to slow down, enjoy the peace, the greenery, mountains, fresh air. - food: there are no shops or restaurants nearby so you will be eating onsite. Food is cooked from fresh every day and they have several choices, both western and Sri Lankan, and it is truly delicious. - there are beautiful hikes you can do from the hotel and if you are adventurous enough you can walk 7.4km to Liptons seat, otherwise the driver will take you up there with the 4x4. - Try and stay there at least 3 night for the full relaxing experience.

“Excellent stay with lots of potential”
We Loved our stay at Planters House, pool was incredible as we're the views from our room. Lovely staff who were attentive but gave us space to relax, even a phone call from the owner to ensure we were there safe. Great to be able to hike liptons seat from the door. We had forgotten to take money for the entrance fee but a quick call to out host sorted this out!

“Beautiful historic property, lovely team of staff and would definitely recommend.”
Although hard to get to, we loved the location and the feel of a historic house, well renovated in the middle of tea plantations. The food was delicious and staff very friendly and helpful.

The house is wonderful and the rooms extremely comfortable. The location of the hotel is stunning being amongst the tea plantations beneath Lipton's seat. The pool has the most spectacular location overhanging the valley below with birds and monkeys in the canopy of trees overhead - unforgettable. Do use the hotel's 4x4 transfer service to reach and leave the hotel from Koslanda as the 'road' is 'challenging'. The thing which really makes this property special though is the staff who were so friendly and welcoming. Malinda and the team were so kind and created a quirky, relaxed, fun atmosphere. Thank you!

“Wonderful experience in a gorgeous house with lovely staff”
The location is exceptional, very remote but in the middle of the forest and tea plantations; it's an old colonial house, beautiful and authentic and the pool is gorgeous. Very nice and helpful staff

It was a very unique experience staying at the Planters House. The views, property and swimming pool were absolutely amazing. It is very remote and isolated, so great if that is what you like. There are some great walks from the property. The staff were very nice and the food was excellent. Highly recommended and a highlight of our 3 weeks in Sri Lanka.

“Very well looked after in a peaceful, magical remote heritage home”
Beautiful house, immaculately clean, lovely super-helpful staff in an awesome location, away from it all in the hills. The remoteness is enhanced by the beautiful but bumpy approach through villages and tea plantations (build some additional time into your travel plans for this).

Amazing amazing amazing view from the stunning pool. Room was pristine and bed very comfy. Felt totally remote and serene during our stay. Staff were super friendly and curry and rice was top notch. 4WD journey is 'exciting' but totally worth it.

The journey to the house was really tough. It took an hour in a jeep on the worst road imaginable. The driver was good but the road terrible. Ask to be met at Lipton Seat Junction it will save 15 minutes of great discomfort.

“Fantastic place after a bumpy road”
The place is magnificent. Lot of charm, nicely decorated and an amazing pool. Staff was very caring and professionnal. The trail to Lipton's seat is highly recommended as you will walk through small mountaineous villages and tea plantations. As it is not the touristic way, you won't find turists along the way.

“Awesome place with challenging road to”
Everything was so nice, staff assisted us when we needed them but most of the time they were “invisible”. I like architecture and the feeling of escaping.

“Beautiful disaster”
The place is a gem, hidden in the top of the mountain. The views are breathtaking and the house is really beautiful. Food was good.
