“Nice rooms at the sandy, clean beach”

Ee really loved the place, beautifull, sany, hidden beach! Rooms are brand new, super style! Tom yam soup my favorit!!! Great stuff! The owner took us by his privet car to see the turtles birth!! What an amazing experience!!! Thanks

“one of the most pleasant beach stays I’ve ever had”

The location feels like paradise to me – a vast, clean, beautiful empty beach surrounded by palm trees and a few rocks. In the morning a few fishermen and some people pass by, but later the beach is practically yours. The house has large rooms, especially the upstairs one. The bed is very comfortable and the room has everything I needed: AC, a refrigerator, wardrobe, warm lighting, balcony, and Wi-Fi. The space is very fresh and nicely designed. They were finishing a few small interior details while we were there. You can step straight from your room onto the beach. The staff are very calm, respectful, and helpful. The restaurant food is excellent, much better than in other places around. We especially liked the mango curry prawns. We had a campfire at night, swam a lot, and enjoyed one of the most pleasant beach stays I’ve ever had (I’ve visited more than 70 countries so far).

Fantastic location on an idealic beach. Best seafood of the trip. I would highly recommend staying here and visiting the excellent turtle hatchery next door.

Loved the location. Beautiful beach. Next door to turtle conservation centre. The room was clean, spacious, had a nice bathroom and even a bath. There are just 3 rooms, 2 are upstairs with balcony and one ground floor (if you need ground floor room advise to message hotel). Great breakfast. We even got a tap on the door when a turtle came up to lay it's eggs at night.

We've had a wonderful stay at the Oruwa. The villa is located directly on the beach. We were fortunate that during our visit, turtles came on to the beach to lay their eggs. So we had the pleasure, to witness this. Next to the villa there is a hatchery where they bring the eggs, so they are safe. Every evening during the season they release the baby's. It was very special to witness this. The staff is very friendly and takes great care of you. The owner comes by a few times a day to make sure everything goes well. They recently opened the first floor, and the room we had was fantastic. It Is tastefully decorated and with a nice big bed. The view on ocean was stunning. We were able to either sit and watch the sunset on the balcony or at one of the tables on the terrace.

“Beautiful located stay”

What a beautiful located find, right on the beech. Room spacious and clean and only 3 rooms in total so was lovely and quiet. We got to release sea turtles and help the local fisherman with boat and catch. Great stay. Staff all friendly

Beautiful view from the balcony. Excellent luxury bathroom. Huge room and extremely comfy bed. Lots of cupboard space and a fridge freezer. Very short walk to the sea for a swim.

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely exceptional stay — a hidden gem in Sri Lanka”

I had the most wonderful experience at this place. The team was incredibly accommodating and truly read every wish from my lips — exactly what you need as a busy European looking for real rest. The owner puts so much heart into everything he does, and you can feel that this place is his dream come to life. The villa is directly on a secluded, quiet beach — far away from tuk-tuks, trains, noise, and crowds. I fell asleep and woke up to the sound of the ocean every day. And as a very picky sleeper, I didn’t even need earplugs once. I slept deeply, peacefully, and finally felt my whole system unwind. In the mornings, you can watch the local fishermen pull in a 150-meter net — an incredible, authentic experience. The beach is practically private, with a calm and grounding atmosphere. It’s also right next to a Sea Turtle Conservatory, where you can release baby turtles into the ocean — such a magical moment. The owner and the staff helped me with absolutely everything: booking tours, organizing transport, arranging fresh celery juice in the morning, and making my plans totally flexible. They went above and beyond in every possible way. If you’re looking for a place to truly relax, reconnect, and experience the warmest Sri Lankan hospitality, this is the perfect spot. I can’t recommend it enough.

The room was really clean and had all the necessary facilities. The staff were helpful and friendly.

Spacious room, close to the beach, very hearty and good breakfasts. ​We ended our 2-week trip at this villa, staying at different places for 1-2 nights, so we have something to compare it to. Unfortunately, this villa doesn't come out on top. All our previous hosts were incredibly kind, helpful, and went out of their way to assist us even after we had checked out. We mentioned needing a taxi to the airport here, but they didn't know the price and didn't offer a solution for two days. As a result, our airport transfer was arranged by the host we had stayed with before. However, I should mention that we only met the owner of this villa on the day we were leaving, so maybe things would have been different if he had been there. ​The downsides: ants in the bed. Since it was the end of our vacation, we didn't want to find another place or move, so we just put up with it. ​Perhaps they should consider putting some kind of film on the glass door so the room isn't visible from the street. Right now, the door looks like a shop window, which isn't very cozy. ​The ocean view is very beautiful, but we had to keep the curtains drawn all the time because people were constantly walking by and staff were cleaning right in front of the windows. ​Maybe if this had been our first place, our impression would have been different. We didn't want to lower the rating too much, it's just that all our previous hosts in Sri Lanka were incredibly kind, smiling, and helped us with everything. We'd want to return to those places, but not here.

Very comfortable place being right by the ocean with a pretty beach and a monastry to explore. Staff is very kind and helpful. Food is great having a restaurant to the room :-) The center of Kosgoda is close by to eat and buy local products.

“Fabulous stay.”

Fantastic location on the beach. Situated next door to the turtle conservation centre. We were able to release baby turtles. The host arranged our mangrove safari and our transport to our next destination. Breakfast was good and we ate on the beach.

Oruwa Turtle Beach Me and my 2 kids spent the most wonderful 6 days in this amazing place! I can’t find words to express how happy and tranquil our stay was. The room is very cozy and spacious (even for 3) and has everything necessary for a comfortable holiday (fridge, kettle, hair dryer, etc), wifi was working well (although we also had a tourist SIM from Dialog). Thilina and his team are just amazingly wonderful! When my son got burnt from the sun, they brought freshly cut aloe leaves. The room was cleaned every 2 days, towels changed when necessary. They organized an amazing birthday party for my daughter, with wonderfully decorated room, cake, candles, flowers, fireworks and releasing baby turtles into the ocean. It will be a long-lasting memory for my daughter and for all of us! The location of the hotel is perfect for introverts and those tired of the crazy whirls of big cities. Beautiful beach line with fine sand and palm trees is a real “Bounty Beach”, definitely one of my favorites in Sri-Lanka (and we saw many beaches from Bentota to Tangalla). You can actually swim here, not just jump in the waves. A trip to a boat safari in Bentota and a trip to Galle are highly recommended. A supermarket is located 1 km away from the hotel, we walked there. There are also Turtle Hatcheries in that area, one is located right next to Oruwa Villa- Galbokka Sea Turtle Conservation project. If lucky, you can see turtles coming from the ocean to the sea shore at night to lay eggs in sand at night. Other than that there isn’t much around except the beauty of the nature. I cried when we were leaving this place. It felt like home, really. Thank you, guys! We will miss you(

Location by the beach right next to a sea turtle Hatchery, slightly remote, excellent home cooked local food, the dhal was my favourite, the staff was amazing and even notified us when a turtle came to the beach at night. It’s clean, spacious and comfortable. The owner puts a lot of effort into providing the best possible service.
