“A wonderful place for winding down - exceptional breakfast”
Aavikunurga is one of these rare jewels where someone invests their passion to create a space for others to relax and just feel good in. It's one of these unique Estonian old farm spaces that encapsulate everything that is good about the Estonian countryside life: quietness, soft landscapes, old trees, berry bushes, flowers, reed thatched roofs, cool rooms. There is still real founder-hospitality in this place even though it exists for almost two decades. And the breakfast, wow! Everything was amazing and almost everything was locally sourced, mostly from the house garden. Our family is in agreement that we must go back there!

“All-in-all: a wonderful place for a quiet stay!”
Peace and quietness were the things we were looking for and this is what we got. Lucky for us, there were not so many other guests at that time. Considering the location, it really is kind of in the middle of nowhere - approx 35 km from the main town of the island - Kuressaare. But roads are good, with a car one can travel everywhere. And this is what we did - visited very many different places on the island and covered some 400 km within 3,5 days :) We stayed for 3 nights, and had pre-ordered breakfast only one morning. That was excellent: large variety of different local food: rhubarb and apple juices, veggies, berries, fish, even pancakes by the little charming pancake-shef etc. On other mornings used the terrace with a nice view for our own picnic. Regarding the venue - we were accommodated in the new building, which is very clean and modern, all rooms are designed differently - all very pretty. Shared bathroom. No table, chairs or cupboard in the rooms though (not at least in ours), could of used coat hooks for hanging the towels. Nice people and well-maintained surroundings. All-in-all: a wonderful place for a quiet stay!

“Spectacular”
Not only is this lodging situated amidst a really peaceful and idyllic landscape where you are bound to bump into wildlife like deer, Aavikunurga also has a most amazing host (lady of the house)who takes care of her guests and is willing to engage in pretty in-depth discussions about Estonia’s society and history thus enabling those who are interested in such things to better understand the country they are visiting. And that after all is one of the main reasons why one travels. Is it not? Oh, did we mention the breakfast? Spectacular!

“Wish I could have stayed for longer”
The house itself is historical and well kept. Room was recently updated and beds were very good. Big and beautiful garden. In the kitchen there were a fridge, presso coffee machine and a water boiler. Owner was helpful and did everything he could for us.
