The location is very good, near Sannomiya station. It is very easy to catch any metro lines and buses from there. A beautiful shinto shrines which is believed to be one of the oldest in Japan is one minute away. The beds were comfortable and even if in a very busy area, we could not hear any noise at night. There are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby and the hotel has a spa open until 22:00.

The hotel is located very close to the major train station in Kobe as well as restaurants and shopping streets. Our stay was very comfortable and the onsen was lovely to use after a long day of walking.

For my recent vacation, I stayed in three different hotels — six nights in Osaka, four nights in Kobe, and another three nights back in Osaka. In Kobe, I chose Hotel Monterey Kobe. All three hotels were similarly convenient in terms of location (each within a 10‑minute walk from a subway station). But in every other aspect, Hotel Monterey Kobe stood out as the best. The cleanliness, good room size (especially the bathroom), bed and pillow comfort, Wi‑Fi reliability, and the efficiency of both check‑in and check‑out were noticeably superior. The check‑in staff, Ms. Harada, was wonderfully attentive and genuinely committed to helping. What impressed me most was her sincerity — she listened carefully, treated me with real respect, and nothing felt scripted. Her warmth and authenticity made me feel truly welcomed, and it was clear she was doing her very best to ensure a comfortable stay. It’s rare to encounter service that feels this heartfelt rather than merely polite.

very centrally located with a nice public bath that guests can use. It's at walking distance from the station while the staff is super friendly (as in most places in Japan). luggage storage and free coffee in the lobby give great plus points.

Hotel was fantastic value. Lovely rooms, with good comfy beds & pillows. Hotel spa was fun, was public, which means separate sexes, but any one can go. The Japanese tend to go naked. Brilliant location for a hotel.

Comfortable rooms of a good size. Great hot showers! Extra amenities supplied. A good breakfast with many choices. And a nice public bath (sento). Location was great as an easy walk to multiple train lines and to the airport bus.

The style and vibe of the hotel itself demonstrated the history of the city and the western influence. Close to the main commercial streets with a lot of food options. Staff speaks English quite well and no difficulties in checking-in and out, luggage storage.
