Relaxing resort on a beautiful island. The staff were fantastic. We absolutely had a lovely time at Mayalay.

During our two-week trip to Thailand, we stayed in four different hotels (ranging from 2,000 to 6,000 THB per night), and this is the only one we can truly say we would come back to. The vibe here is absolutely amazing. People in Thailand are generally very friendly, but here you can really feel that the kindness is genuine, not just professional. The massage was wonderful:) highly recommend. We actually had a more expensive and worse massage on Phi Phi. I don’t understand the negative reviews about the breakfast. Yes, there is no typical buffet or huge selection, but everything they serve is very tasty and well-prepared. I recommend the potatoes with eggs and bacon, or boiled rice with pork. For dessert, I had pancakes with peanut butter and strawberry jam - delicious! This is the cleanest beach on the island, and the snorkeling right in front of the hotel is the best we’ve experienced. They provide free masks and fins, so you can easily enjoy the underwater world. If you forget SPF, you can buy it at the reception for 500 THB, the same one we bought in Ao Nang for 720 THB. Drinking water is unlimited and free. The sunbeds may not be the most comfortable, but there are very cozy bean bags which make up for it. In my opinion, this is the best hotel on the island. Coco Cottage doesn’t have a nice beach (it’s more of a reef area), and Thanya is a large resort with many people, so you don’t get the same peaceful and private atmosphere as here. As for the restaurant: the pizza is tasty and the cocktails are great. I also really appreciated the eco-friendly approach, with no cheap plastic sunbeds that would ruin the aesthetic. Localisation and really cameral atmosphere

Friendly staff, good atmosphere, small resort so not as crowded as the other resorts, good snorkeling, beach front rooms and no plastic water bottles! Also I do not like group trips where you spend only 20 minutes at a location. So they organized a trip just for me and I could snorkel to my heart's content.

“Paid for first-row sea view, got second row and no support from staff”

We were required to pay the full amount upfront, which in hindsight should have been a warning sign. We paid extra for a Sea View Bungalow – 1st row, based on the beautiful photos shown when booking. However, the bungalow we received was clearly second row, with a massage hut and two other bungalows in front—there was no beachfront feeling at all. When we raised this with the staff, they simply said “sorry” and insisted it was a first-row bungalow, which is misleading and unacceptable. Especially in high season, it seems they sell second-row bungalows as first-row. The lack of care or willingness to understand our disappointment from the receptionist completely ruined the experience.
