I had originally planned to spend a full week at Pano Resort, but due to an accident involving a friend I was traveling with, I unfortunately couldn't make it to Koh Mak as planned. Because of this unfortunate event, I politely asked Pano if – despite the "no refund" policy – it might be possible to cancel the booking as an exception to avoid paying for an empty room. What followed next is something I never experienced in my entire life! It started with the presumed owner (who doesn't even seem to be on-site himself) asking in a very intrusive manner if he could visit my friend in the hospital in Chiang Mai (wtf?!). I can only assume this was to check if I was making up the accident, as there is absolutely no other reason for a stranger to even suggest such a thing. After I naturally declined and repeatedly explained the circumstances leading to my no-show – hoping for some empathy – I was laughed at and mocked for not knowing the booking terms and rules. This happened during an emergency situation that was already stressful and difficult enough! I am well aware that I have no legal right to a refund and that it is a matter of goodwill – but no one should have to put up with being laughed at and treated disrespectfully. As several other guests have already noted (I recommend also reading the reviews on Google Maps), I strongly advise against booking a stay here. Your money is not going to a good person, but to someone who couldn't care less – most important thing is, that the cash keeps flowing.

Pa, who is responsible for the day to day running of the place is amazing. So warm and friendly and kind. Unfortunately she was the only good thing about Pano Resort.

“Peaceful and sentence cabin core dream”

This is a true gem of a stay in a remote and beautiful location right on the water. We loved the wooden house we stayed in with beautiful views on the ocean and mangroves, big balcony and wood walls and flooring. It’s rustic and so charming we’d absolutely come back here. The staff are also absolutely incredible and we loved the peace and quiet in this place.

The two ladies at the site are lovely, but not empowered to solve the fundamental problems with this property. The location, like all of Koh Mak, is attractive. The property is isolated so you will have to use transport to go anywhere.

A place where to feel free

“Pano Chill”

Wooden high build huts facing the sea. Nice private hammock on the balcony and a hot shower. If you enjoy peace and quietness, this is for you. Also the ladies there are always smiling, singing and making excellent cappuccino

The staff were absolutely amazing I couldn’t have asked for any better hospitality. It felt very welcoming and homely. The room was so cool very traditional and spacious with a gorgeous view.

The most beautiful simple stay, Pano was one of the longest stays we had in Thailand as we kept booking more nights, very easy place to relax! sabai sabai! Pa is the best host! She cooks unbelievable food and makes you feel right at home!
