Despite a power cut, every consideration was taken to make the best of a difficult situation. Good local advice given. Excellent breakfast. Easy to get to.

“Wonderful stay”

Setting was great, we had a lovely room and the team were very welcoming, warm and friendly. Breakfast was unbelievably good, almost as good as our balcony view over the Heads. Special thanks to Urs for the brilliant conversations about music and pianos and other instruments - and if you get the chance ask Faith to sing for you. A great stay and we definitely will come back here if we return to Knysna. Thank you Candlewood

It was an amazing place to stay. There wasn’t anymore that they could do for you. You could feel the care that they have put into the hotel, from the lovely friendly staff to the facilities on offer. Can’t fault this place and hope to come back

“Luxury lodge in Knysna”

Well located to walk along the estuary into Knysna. Also easy to get a taxi. Close to the town but far enough away to be peaceful. All staff very welcoming and pleasant. Best bed we had so far in SA!

Loved the room we had (Sea Horse), it had amazing views over the lagoon, the staff were fantastic, Laythan the GM and the owner Urs were both terrific, the breakfasts we super and they also provided dinners too on the off evening - which were also great!

The room was spacious and we were greeted with a lovely fruit plate on arrival in our room. The breakfast was served in the courtyard which was nice

“An idyllic and peaceful haven.”

Candlewood Lodge is in the hills above Knysna and therefore is peaceful and has amazing views of the lagoon & the Knysna heads. The staff here without exception are amazing. Nothing is too much trouble and they are friendly, courteous and always extremely professional. The rooms are stunning with all you could ask for. Even a yoga mat which I used every day. (Every hotel room should have them) The bathroom had a huge walk in shower with lovely toiletries provided. Air con in the room which was much needed in early January. Breakfast was part buffet and part fresh cooked. Such interesting choices too. Or make your own up. On one night, at our request, they prepared a 4 course evening meal. As long as they have enough people they will do this. An incredible 5 star meal - beautifully served and beautifully presented. Laythan the manager was wonderful. Always ready to offer help, advice on things to do, book a taxi and chat over your day. What a welcome on arrival, sitting us down for a much needed drink and a biscuit. Well done on how he’s managing the hotel and the staff. It’s a very happy place.

“Wonderful stay at Candlewood Lodge”

Urs and his team are simply fabulous. We felt like coming home! As a guest at Candlewood Lodge you feel very special!It starts with the arrival when your name is displayed at the front door, written in white in the window, the glass of wine to welcome you, the information what to do and where to eat around the area. The rooms are beautiful, the breakfast is sensational and sometimes the guesthouse even cooks dinner for the guest, which was amazing! Urs has a fantastic wine selection from all over South Africa. We were very happy there and our next stay in Knysna will definitely be at Candelwood Lodge. Thank you to the entire team!

“A beautiful place to stay to explore knysna.”

The staff were so warm and hospitable. The breakfast was delicious and we loved all the little touches that made our stay extra special.

We had a great stay at Candlewood. The rooms are very comfortable with some rooms with great views. Breakfast was stunning and they offer a lot of extras like laundry and a beach bag!

The property felt very homely and all the staff were incredibly welcoming and couldn’t do enough to ensure our stay was perfect. The view from our room was stunning snd the breakfast was the best hotel breakfast I have ever seen, there were so many options and everything was fresh with multiple juice and coffee options.

Candlewood Lodge has been created with love and real attention to detail. The owner Matthias gave us a great tour of the splendid garden and was instrumental in helping us very quickly sort out an itinerary for our one full day in the town. We had a great stay in Knysna thanks to his help. The staff were all lovely, the food was great, the place was quiet and peaceful. Highly recommended, if we return to Knysna we will definitely choose Candlewood Lodge again.

Nice lodge with gorgeous lagoon view
