Overview
Situated in Kizimkazi, near Kizimkazi Mkunguni Beach and Kizimkazi Dimbani Beach, Mawingu lodge is a recently renovated property, featuring, free bikes and garden. There is a private entrance at the bed and breakfast for the convenience of those who stay. Mawingu Lodge was a comfortable and quiet place to stay as a base for our local dives. The communication was excellent from my first enquiry, our transport from the airport was organised and assistance was offered for booking tours locally or elsewhere on Zanzibar. The staff were lovely, helpful and attentive, and any issues we had were dealt with promptly (no hot water initially but an electrician was called as soon as we notified them). Daily breakfast was delicious (those omelettes!), and it was just so peaceful, an utter delight. Bear in mind it is budget accommodation but if you're good with that, you can't go wrong with Mawingu.

I recommend. I love the place. I come back every year... and this time I went with the team on a big trip to Tanzania. The team is like family. The place is one of a kind. Different and pleasant. You feel like you are in a natural forest with butterflies. Pampering meals in the nature outside. Everything is good

“Amazing”
When we arrived the team greet us nicely and we immediately felt like home. The place is full of green plantes with a natural big graden and a feeling of being in the forest. This place was very special. I'm a botanist and I was charmed. Food was great with nice breakfast and fish dish for dinner. The place also offers a massage which was the cherry on top of our staying.

On vacation with an 11-year-old girl...exciting...even when we arrived the staff was waiting at the entrance.Welcoming and getting to know the village.The room is amazing..In the morning we got up for a yoga class..and the girl enjoyed sitting with the local friend who taught her handicrafts. I enjoyed the massage I received as a gift. And of course I did it again... the beach is very close and at night we sat watching shooting stars with Maasai stories... the meals are perfect and varied... we could order food that suits us. Thank you for everything. We will come back again next year

“Ideal to calm down, relax and enjoy the simplicity of life.”
The Mawingu Lodge is a place of peace, consciousness and warmth. We felt invited to just be, relax in one of the various seating areas and practicing yoga. There the simple life is celebrated. We could rent a SUP and enjoyed breakfast (fruit, omlette, chapati, delicious tea and coffee) as well as the dinner (fresh grilled fish, vegetable sauce and rice) a lot. We can highly recommend to eat there for dinner.

“Amazing and beautiful!”
Mawingu lodge is a clean and wonderful place, surrounded trees and plants. The location is perfect, literally 1 min walk from the beach and 2 min walk from the village center. Orit and the employees are super friendly, and have great recommendations for things to do around. The room was big and designd beautifully, so i really felt like home. I would definitely come back again :)

The people at Mawingu lodge were very nice and helpful. It's a beautiful calm space. When I was there they had baby dogs. So this was a highlight too. It's a very safe area. People are super friendly. I enjoyed my stay. Asante

Location and they have a lovely friendly dog that's just had puppies and a friendly cat. Staff friendly too.
