“Gem in Kythnos”
If you want a quiet and relaxing spot, that’s the place for you. The private beach was great and perfect for relaxing. The house has all the amenities, it’s spacious and clean. The island is beautiful, making it a nice place to get away from everything. The hosts were exceptional and we will definitely be back.

“Caveat emptor.”
Yes it is a nice property. BUT: Vital information: there are NO BUSES, NO TAXIS, NO NEARBY RESTAURANTS, NO FOOD AT THE PROPERTY, NO NEARBY SUPERMARKETS. The ONLY way to reach the property is by hiring a car. You MUST have a car, and you need to bring all your food with you. When we arrived on the island (we were six in total: two adults - one elderly, and four children), we contacted the owner, who said we should have hired a car, and that no taxis would agree to come down the rocky dirt road that leads to the property. Buses only service the north half of the island, which is useless. They did say that they could arrange a minivan for us, at the cost of 100 euros(!!!!). Indeed, I rang all the local taxi companies, and they all flatly refused to go to Simousi/Simousea. So suddenly we were faced with the prospect of paying 100 euros every time we wanted to go anywhere. By a miracle, I managed to hire a series of Fiat Pandas for successive days (30-40 euros a day) to keep us mobile during our stay, but they were barely serviceable (dodgy/missing seatbelts, no speedometer, etc) and they only take four people, so I shuttled twice for every journey. And the road was very rough and difficult, rather risky and barely signposted - not fun to be driving with an elderly passenger, who at one point had to get out and help to push us out of the sand after we took a wrong turn. On another occasion, I went took the wrong turn to Simousi beach and could barely get back up the hill as my tyres scrabbled for purchase on the rocky road. It appears that the south of Kythnos has yet to be mapped by google, no surprise.
