“A lovely low key way to experience a Georgian family winery”

Friendly family who looked after us well with evening meal, plenty of wine, a short tour of their winery. The wine tasting involved some delicious amber wine prior to the meal and several bottles of wine during the meal.

“Nice brothers but too expensive for what you get”

I'm sure the experience here is very nice if you speak Russian or Georgian - but if you're only English-speaking, this might not be the best place to come as the brothers, despite being very nice, do not speak sufficient English to give you the full background etc. on the wines, the process etc. We were quite disappointed with our visit, especially considering the value for money. For example, it was advertised that the wine tasting would come with an explanation and a board of nuts, cheese etc. - but since we did not speak Russian Gela basically put 5 bottles of wine on our table while we were having dinner and we did not get any background or experience along with it - and neither the cheese board. We would have preferred to get two separate experiences - one supra and before (or after) a proper wine tasting. Also because you're eating, the wine flavors don't come out the same and you're getting full so the two experiences should not be mixed. There were several Russian-speaking groups who indeed got the experiences separate and at different times and one of the brothers sat with them to explain everything. Too bad we couldn't get the same, considering we pay the same price - even if Gela doesn't speak enough English, he still speaks some and we could have done it with Google Translate. So we felt left out. I must also mention the value for money of the supra and everything else in general - we found this place very expensive compared to others. The supra cost 100 GEL and did not include wine tasting (an additional 75 GEL if you want to try 5 types of wine). There were also items in the list advertized that we never got, like the hot beef dish. Also, the barbecue was only one skewer for two people - so the meal felt very light. Bread and cheese and tomatoes and sauce etc. is not one expects to mostly eat when the price is so high - we expect more meat!

The place had the potential to be a really nice experience. The room was small and very basic, but we booked this stay mainly for the wine tasting. It’s a small, family-run winery. Unfortunately, the lack of clarity around prices left me both disappointed and uncomfortable. Dinner costs 100 GEL per person, and wine with dinner (presented as a “wine tasting”) is an additional 35–45 GEL per person. Compared to prices elsewhere in Georgia, this felt significantly overpriced. On top of that, the brothers running the place don’t speak English, so unfortunately we didn’t learn much from them about the wines or the winery itself. It’s a pity, because the location and concept are lovely – with more transparency it could have been much more enjoyable. As it was, I just wanted to leave, and I would not return.

The whole family was very friendly and everyone did their best to make us feel at home. The brothers introduced us to local customs. The wine was 10 out of 10. We found a new favorite wine thanks to the Khutsishvili brothers. We definitely recommend trying the cognac, which was also the best I've ever had. The brothers gave recommendations on places to visit and organized a local guide. We are very grateful and happy that we had the opportunity to visit the Khutsishvili brothers wine cellar and stay there for 2 nights. Thank you for your hospitality!

Everything. Room, breakfast, and owner is very generous. We had a wine tasting, and we thought it was more expensive than ones we had previously, until the owner told us that we should feel at home, and the bottles are for us to drink, not only a small portion in the glass. So it is not expensive at all 😂 he was laughing so hard when we said that we are ready for the next wine, and he said just have as much as you want 🤣🤣

It was a great experience: Really hospitable and friendly. The two owners made sure that we felt welcome and at home. Food was also nice.

5 stars are not enough to rate our amazing experience at Khutsishvili brothers' guesthouse. The room was clean and spacious, the home made food was the best we tasted in Georgia, the wines were excellent. But most of all is the heart-warming hospitality that we we'll never forget. We really had a very good time here.
