Sekhar and Kalpana were very welcoming, the room was spacious and clean. Kalpana's food was great! The house is in Kirtipur, far from the centre of Kathmandu but in a much quieter location.

This is a nice family-run hotel that's perfect for everybody who wants to be close to Kathmandu without being exposed to its fuss and pollution. It's at the edge of the valley and thus also a good starting point for hikes to the neighboring hills. The hotel is in Kirtipur, one of the historical Newar cities in the valley, and the historical center is within walking distance, as is the central TU campus. All the staff were very helpful and Kalpana's food was really good, too.

“A relaxing home”
The hotel feels so clean and has an air of relaxation about it. The family showed great hospitality, made delicious food, and we were even lucky to be invited to a dinner party with their friends and family. It was delightful to meet their elder son Sagar, who was also extremely hospitable, was a very interesting partner for conversation, speaks great English, and answered many of our questions and explained many things about Nepal that nobody else was able to explain to us on this trip.

“A special place”
This place is really highly recommended! We spent six days with Shekhar, Kalpana and their children and they immediately made us feel like part of the family. The room was very clean - even more if you consider that you are in Nepal and the whole house was really new. As it gets cold in winter, there was a thick cozy blanket on the bad and a small plug-in-heater. Shekhar and Kalpana really made our stay so so special! We learned a lot about Nepal, its culture and cuisine and even learned how to make Mo:Mos! They were always super helpful and friendly. The whole experience really exceeded our expectations - if you want an authentic Nepali experience with the comfort of a hotel and the kindness of a homestay you should definitely come here :)
