This family-run, hillside hotel is 6 km from Kirkjubæjarklaustur and a 1-hour drive from Skaftafell National Park. It offers traditional Icelandic food, a furnished terrace and countryside views. Room with a View This accommodation was outstanding. The layout of the room and size was extremely ample for two people, access to the courtyard and hotel a bonus. Double bed. Well heated for May weather. Very comfortable with varied pillows for different requirements. The breakfast spread included hot food & sweet food. A great variety. Space to view the view in dining and lounge areas. The home-made fruit bread very delicious. The Reception were very helpful and outstanding with advice on our trip itinerary. Able to walk to the lake, see the horses and mountains. Hope to stay here again.

“The hotel is simple, but cozy, with very friendly staff”
Staying at Hotel Laki on the south coast was a calm, almost minimalist experience. The location is very remote, surrounded by lava fields, and in the evening you just hear birds and nature, it feels like a true natural shelter. The hotel itself is simple, but cozy, with very friendly staff and modest but tasty breakfasts.

Lovely quiet surroundings, with a beautiful view- Quiet, Friendly and very helpful staff. Food delicious; breakfast may not seem extensive, but offers more than enough, in our opinion.

“I recommend”
Great hotel with a really good breakfast. Since it was the quiet season, we had a nice chat with José, one of the staff members, who told us a bit about Iceland, which we really appreciated. I also loved the piano in the restaurant—being the only ones there at the time, I even enjoyed playing for a little while. We didn’t eat at the restaurant, but the space looked very inviting and well presented.
