I stayed at this hotel for two months while doing fieldwork in the area, and I want to take some time to write a proper review because the staff here genuinely made my stay meaningful. The hotel is located slightly outside the town center, which means it stays quiet most of the time. Even on Tuesdays when the local market gathers and there's an outdoor area nearby where people play music and drink, the noise was minimal from my room. The view from the dining area is beautiful. You can see Mount Kilimanjaro clearly on a good day, which made breakfast a small daily pleasure. The rooms are basic but clean, and the owner is constantly working to improve the place. During my stay he added a wardrobe to my room, and when I mentioned having trouble with mosquitoes, he went out and bought an electric mosquito lamp, which made a big difference. There is no air conditioning, but if you ask the owner he'll bring you a fan. Small things like this really show he cares. The food deserves a special mention. Breakfast comes with bread and butter that I genuinely loved, along with coffee and a tea that reminded me of Cantonese herbal tea from southern China, really comforting. Lunch and dinner are both 500 KES and are home-cooked by the staff. The cooking is genuinely good, though travelers coming from outside East Africa should know the food here tends to be saltier than what you might be used to elsewhere. Meal times are flexible. You can either eat when the staff finishes cooking, or arrange specific times with them in advance. But the real heart of this place is the staff. I want to mention Beatrice and Lucy by name. Both of them were incredibly attentive throughout my stay, always checking in to ask if I needed anything, offering room cleaning, and just being warm presences in what was sometimes a difficult fieldwork period for me. Nanis, who has since left, was also lovely during the time we overlapped.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. She helped with a tour of Amboseli and was always happy to help. There's a beautiful view of Kilimanjaro near the guesthouse, but the mountain is only visible at sunrise. According to locals, the best views of Kilimanjaro are in August. If you drive a few kilometers toward the mountain, you'll see a high hill with stunning views of the surrounding area and Kilimanjaro.
