Beautiful location, very well designed and comfortable amenities. Staff are attentive and helpful. We took a guided tour of the Kilwa Kisiwani ruins which the hostel organised, our guide was very professional and we were very happy with the experience! The hostel also arranged our transport which was prompt, helpful, and our driver was excellent.

It's a wonderful, little place to stay, right at the beach (yet hidden by vegetation, giving privacy). The common area are comfortable for relaxing, and the room had a good size. Shared bathrooms were always clean. The girl that was taking care of it was very helpful and nice all the time.

“Fantastic stay at the Slow Leopard in Kilwa”

Hostel is really nicely designed with a fantastic location right on the beach. The food was fantastic and really enjoyed the tour to Kilwa Kisiwani and Songo Mnara.

“Great Experience”

The staff was very welcoming and despite the rain they made our stay very comfortable. We did the tour to the island which was wonderful and the guide was very knowledgable. I would definetly recommend. There are not many places in Kilwa to go, but if you are with friends and prepared for a slow weekend it is a great place.

Breakfast was delicious and the location perfect for winding down! I can really recommend this place for anyone looking for a quiet refuge

“A complete getaway into a bygone age of a beach fishing community.”

Lovely breakfast and full board set meals. Fabulous access to lovely beach and fishing village. Good local excursions with local guide. Opportunities for swimming, snorkelling and archaeology. Great Slow Leopard architecture and gardens.

Tucked away in the dunes, the wonderful little lodge is right at the best section of the entire bay. An enchanting garden invites you to stay in the hammocks or shady terrace. As it was raining heavily, we were moved to the house rather than bungalows to avoid any flooding. The house is very nicely designed including the showers. The fact that it is not ensuite doenst matter at all. Feels like home away from home. Food was amazing, the house keeper is brilliant.

“A tranquil place to relax”

I stayed in the dorm, which I found surprisingly comfortable (I am 57 and I haven't stayed in a dorm for many years). I loved the architecture of the place - a lot of places to relax. The property is right at the beach but people who pass by cannot look in which gives privacy. One can do wonderful day trips from the property.

Perfect location for a relaxed stay. Super nice hosts and amazing food which they change everyday. Quiet and a good atmosphere. Staying in the tents and go to sleep with the sounds of the wave is unforgettable
