Overview
Situated on a former coconut plantation by Masoko Pwani Beach, Kilwa Beach Lodge offers private beach access, deep-sea fishing, snorkelling and hippo-watching trips. There is also a restaurant and bar on site. The rooms are all located along the beach and feature eco-friendly, local materials. Some rooms also have a balcony or patio with outdoor seating. The private bathrooms all come with a shower. Guests can enjoy seafood at Upepo Pwani Restaurant and a variety of drinks at Babu’s Bar. Banquet and conference facilities are also available. Day trips to the historical Kilwa Ruins can be arranged upon request. Kilwa Lodge is located just 2 km from Kilwa Airport and 3 km from Kilwa Masoko town. The Kilwa Ruins are 6 km away.

“A lovely spot on the sea, could be great with a few tweaks”
Really beautiful spot right on the beach. Excellent food for all meals, always a good vegetarian option. Dining staff very friendly. We had booked a room not on the beach, we asked to change and they allowed us to do so. There was usually hot water. When no other guests were there, it was really peaceful and relaxing. They let you use kayaks for free.

“Best beach vacation on the main land.”
Kilwa Beach Lodge is the only hotel on about 2km of beach. At low tide you can walk about 500m up to the water. At high tide the level of water is just perfect for bathing, especially if you are not a strong swimmer. The little houses are directly on the beach. For lunch and dinner a 3-course menu is suggested to you and you can add or replace parts of it. The food is excellent. The lodge can organize trips to the ruins or for snorkling or diving. We had a really good time.

The location is great, even though it's kind of complicated to get to the place, the road shown on Google maps was washed away after heavy rains and you have to go through the village, while some of the signs are not in place and I got lost. Otherwise it's a unique place next to a fishermen village with fantastic views. Very good food.

“A friendly, peaceful, charming hotel in a stunning location.”
a stunningly beautiful location by the sea. Great Breakfast. Good tasty dinners (but not much choice - one meat one fish option each night). we stayed in the 'eco cottage' which was brilliant. The restaurant and housekeeping staff were fantastic, friendly and helpful. The manager, Aziz, oversaw our very early morning departure arrangements and was even there to see us off! The hotel is about 3 or 4 KM out of Kilwa but the local 'Bajaja' taxis were easy to use and prompt in arriving (hotel staff called them on our behalf).

There’s no tv, no music, friendly staff, clean in all senses, relax, possibility to do excursions to the nearby islands with knowledgeable guides, food was very nice, the best way to disconnect❤️

“Great place for someone who would like to get lost and stay in privacy”
Located right on the beach. Great view of open ocean. Bungalows stay just few meters from the beach and ocean. Great place for someone who would like to get lost and stay in deep privacy. Far from town and world.

“Most wonderful time at Kilwa”
I was at Kilwa Beach Lodge with my family in August 21. We had the most wonderful time. My wife and me stayed in the 2-story house. I loved the architecture. It is in the 2nd row from the beach but you overlook the beach over the top of the also very nice beach houses. The beach is private and clean. Water level is low. Good for bathing and save for kids. Not so much swimming except during high tide. It is the people that turn good into wonderful. Our every wishes were taken care of promptly and with a smile. They organized trips to the ruins and for snorkling for us. When my wife wanted action in the evening they took us to where the music plays. Special praise for the food. There is a different 3 course menu from fresh seafood every day. If somethng does not meet your taste you can substitute from the a la carte menu. Or you simply ask for what you would like. For me, this kind of service is the ultimate luxury.
