Overview
A 9-km boat ride along the Kariega River provides the only access to malaria-free Sibuya Game Reserve, set in the forest. It offers Big Five game drives, river cruises and tented accommodation. With a deck overlooking the river or forest, the spacious tents are in 2 separate camps. Each has luxury bedding, an all-weather roof and an African-themed private bathroom with free-standing bath. Glass doors open onto a wooden deck. The secluded suites are located at the Bush Lodge and are fully en-suite with outside and inside showers and private sun viewing decks. Breakfast is served daily and lunch and dinner can be taken in each camp’s river-view restaurant. The river can be heard on evenings spent around the campfire. Birdwatching, bushwalking and fishing are available, and canoes can be rented. Off-site activities including golf and horseriding on the beach. Free secure parking is provided at Sibuya Game Reserve and Lodge’s check-in location in Kenton-on-Sea. A shuttle can be requested from Port Elizabeth Airport, around a 2-hour drive away.

If you're still thinking about it - book it. Was more than we usually spend per night, but well worth it. Stayed two nights which felt perfect. Amazing tents, we had the forest camp, the whole premises, eating area, hang out spots etc. are just so well thought out and beautifully designed, food war exquisite and the whole staff was so attentive and perfect. Game drives were amazing and our guide was a studied bio-conservationist (hoping im getting this right) and just oozed with both knowledge for animals, flora and the area but also such love and fascination for everything. 100/10.

Sibuya Game Reserve is a truly special place with an incredible atmosphere. The whole experience feels very intimate and authentic, allowing you to see amazing wildlife up close in a very natural setting. The team on site is unbelievably kind and welcoming and takes care of everything so you can fully enjoy the experience. You can really feel how passionate they are about what they do. Seeing such incredible animals in this beautiful environment was absolutely unforgettable. If you are looking for a unique safari experience with a very personal touch, this is the place to go. Highly recommended!

It was really good and I can highly recommend this lovely accomodation. The game drives were stunning (thank you, Mike!) and the staff was overwhelmingly nice! Yes, it’s a little more expensive but compares to other lodges it’s the cheapest and worth every dollar. A bonus: it’s eco friendly :) We will come back!

Lovely tent/room with log burner and plenty of logs for those chilly nights and mornings. Reece, our guide has phenomenal knowledge of plants, trees and animals. He was great fun and never missed an opportunity to tell us something interesting. He seemed to have an uncanny knack of finding the animals so we could just watch them in their natural surroundings. Probably the best guide we’ve come across in all our years of doing safaris. Thanks Reece!

“Difficult to express in words!”
Sibuya is a very special place on earth!! Even the journey by boat is an experience. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the whole team, who are incredibly great. Julie is incredibly lovely and humorous. We were spoiled the whole day, we laughed and sang a lot. The food is delicious and even a bed bottle is provided for the night. The tents are great and a special experience, the beds are super comfortable. We couldn't have imagined a better game driver for the safari than CJ. She is such a lovely person and her love for nature and the animals is palpable - she loves her work! she was able to show us and teach us a lot, has patience and a great sense of humor. It was not easy for us to say goodbye. We had a great time at Sibuya Game Reserve and can recommend it 1000% and would book there again!

Suite - Bush Lodge
Suites - Bush Lodge’s four well-appointed and secluded luxury thatched units are spacious with lounge area and a cozy wood-burning fireplace each. Bathrooms are en-suite with outside and inside showers and complimentary toiletries. Private viewing decks provide exclusivity and comfort for sunbathing, star-gazing and personal relaxation - facing the pristine valley where bird song welcomes every misty morning and the Indian ocean is audible in the distance. Each suite has tea-and-coffee making facilities, air-conditioning and King size bed / twin. The central Lodge area provides a bar, plush relaxation areas and every plated meal is a special occasion. Bush Lodge has a heated swimming pool and is on grid electricity as well as solar power. Children over the age of twelve are welcome. Free wifi is available. A bonfire deck is strategically immersed in the forest overlooking the valley, where a feeling of peace overwhelms the weary wanderer.
