Amazing location, amazing stuff, we were able to see Aurora every evening of our stays. Building is near the lake so every evening there was a possibility to view the Aurora in just a 3 mins of walk

Our family hade a very nice stay at Soppela Resort summer 2025. The manager was very helpful, considerate and available. We got tips about what to do and visit. The inside premises of the resort was clean and had a special interior since the origin classroom was partly preserved. We had a spacious room and access to the whole kitchen. The children enjoyed theirself at the gym and went for swims in the lake.

A unique accommodation in a well-preserved school with an 80s feel. Our family got to sleep in a former classroom where the blackboard and school maps were still there. There is a refrigerator and possibility to cook and wash dishes in the room but we also had access to the former school kitchen. A preserved gymnasium, forest and swimming pool right next door were perfect for the children. This accomodation is very good for large groups. Also groups where a part of the group want to stay in a caravan as they also have a campsite. Timo is a nice and helpful host.

Shower water pressure was good. There is a very small sauna in the shower room, but we didn’t use it.

The location was far enough from the town of Kemijärvi for it to be completely quiet and give you a feeling of remoteness, but at the same time it was still only a 15-20 minute drive by car away from the main station. There were a beach and some nice places to hike nearby, overall the setting was idyllic and very beautiful. The apartment was quite spacious with comfortable beds and reasonably fast internet. The lady running the place was very nice and even offered us a lift to town when we were leaving.

“Charming inexpensive place I absolutely recommend”

This is a great budget place for everyone looking for a comfortable, nice and inexpensive place to stay. We arrived very late and probably woke up the owner. However, she had no problem showing us around and welcoming us, although she spoke little English. The lady was so kind, even brought us free pancakes in the morning :-) the room was clean and comfy, felt like being in the 20is. It had everything one needs. Very charming and spacious.

If one wants to have an idea over paradise, don't look too far. There it is Mamma Taina is your protecting angel. A few words in Finnish are a good help. 1 hour by bus from Rovaniemi. I was very happy there, peaceful and silent. A real holiday... Yes, in the winter. Arctic clothes are a must, if you want to hike, or walk around.

nice location on the shore of the lake. blueberries/mushrooms everywhere around the house. old school gym as advertised. very very nice host (actually mother of the owner). there are just couple of houses around. car is highly recommended to get to the nearest shop (to Kemijarvi) or any kind of tourist attractions (hikes mainly around). but the with the car nearest very nice hikes are 10-15min max by car and also one nice beach is just 10min by car. there is also a very nice small beach 50m from the accomodation. and also there was a beach volley place next to it. i would say it's quite a good value for the money (we stayed in the big apartment with kids) but dont expect some newly built apartment. it;s an old school, kind of a retro feeling. kind of a place you remember when going to grandma old house. good base if staying around Kemijarvi and exploring around. Pyha-Luosto National park is also under 1h by car.
