I had a very good experience staying here with my family. The place is spacious, clean, and the room was very well equipped. At first, I had booked a different room, but the owner kindly changed it to a room with three beds to better suit my family. We really appreciated his help and kindness. The hospitality was excellent — he was very welcoming, friendly, and always ready to help. In the morning, he also gave us useful advice about places around the area, which was very helpful. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area, and I would be happy to come back again in the future. Thank you for everything!

“It is good rest house in a quite place and the manager is very welcoming,”

I initially booked the room for one night but ended up spending three nights. The room was good, though the Wi-Fi was not working, and the manager said he would get it working once the holidays were over. I had to ask for a kettle, which was readily provided. The manager suggested the places I could visit. I had ridden on a bike, and I had no problems storing the bike securely. I had a lovely breakfast along with a cup of coffee.

Brilliant place! Extremely helpful and welcoming host, the room is the nicest I’ve stayed in on my trip- spacious, lovely furniture, big bed, all the essentials including a good mosquito net, and even a desk space in the room. WiFi is good and plenty of space in the living area for working/ games/ yoga. The host went the extra mile with everything, from directions to the hotel, helping with getting buses, and planning day trips. Lovely fresh food, and fruit from the beautiful garden. Would highly recommend to anyone!

“Guy who owns it is lovely, nice and spacious”

The guy who owns this is very nice, he gave us a tour of the fruit garden and even shared some star fruit with us and star fruit juice which was lovely. He also made us a very nice pot of tea in the morning which was massively appreciated! The room itself was large and was very quiet.

We had a wonderful stay at The Golden Residence – Kegalle. The place is very comfortable and well-maintained, and what truly made our experience special was the hospitality. Mr. Chandra, the manager, was extremely helpful, supportive, and friendly throughout our stay. He went out of his way to make us feel welcome and ensure that we had everything we needed. We even stayed longer than our scheduled check-out time, but Mr. Chandra very kindly did not charge us for the extra time. This generous gesture shows the genuine care and professionalism with which he manages this place. Overall, we highly recommend The Golden Residence for anyone visiting Kegalle. With such warm hospitality and excellent service, it truly feels like a home away from home.

The host was brilliant!!! Greeting us straight away showing us how everything works, telling us what to do around the hotel. Even showing us around his garden and letting us have some! Definitely a great stop heading to kandy

Really helpful and friendly. They were already waiting for us at the front door when we arrived. I would highly recommend this place!

The house was lovely with beautiful wooden furniture. The room was big with a comfortable bed and hot shower in a nice bathroom. Chandra was the perfect host, nothing was too much trouble he provided us with a kettle and cups for our room as well as other kind gestures ( Sri Lankan breakfast one morning). On arrival we were given homemade starfruit juice and showed us around his lovely garden full of fruit trees and herbs.. He organised a car for our visit to the Elephant Orphanage. Chandra is special and we highly recommend The Golden Residence.

Highly recommended. The rooms and common areas are enormous by usual standards, and very comfortable. Super attentive host offered a range of fresh juices from the garden, and delicious top-shelf fruit selection as well as loads of tips and suggestions for local attractions. Very effective AC. The room was mosquito free but also well netted on an enormous four-poster bed. If driving note that the turn comes up suddenly as you come around the corner and would be easy to miss the first time.

“A really relaxing stay in the countryside!”

An all round fantastic stay from start to finish! The room was nice and airy with a big comfortable bed, and the shady veranda was perfect for chilling through the heat of the day. The host is a lovely gentleman who showed us round his garden to show us the trees he gets the fruits for the free fresh juice he gives.
