Overview
Located in the Nanki Katsuura hot-spring area, guests at Hotel Urashima can enjoy natural Bokido cave hot-spring baths. The hotel offers 4 other public hot-spring baths. The property offers free shuttle service by car or ferry for limited hours per day, both a 10-minute ride from JR Kii Katsuura Station. Free WiFi is available in the public areas. The air-conditioned rooms feature tatami (woven-straw) floors and Japanese futon bedding. A TV, fridge and an electric kettle with green tea bags are included in each. Rooms come with a private toilet but bathrooms are shared. An outdoor swimming pool is open during the summer and a coin launderette is provided for guests to use. Local gifts can be purchased at the souvenir shop and a karaoke room is available as well. A breakfast and dinner buffet are served at the hotel’s dining room. Urashima Hotel is a 15-minute walk from Katsuura Fishing Port and a 20-minute drive from Taiji Whale Museum.

“Renovations made this stay difficult.”
The hot springs were great but 3 were closed for renovations while we were there. Food was nice but exactly the same each day. It had its own Lawson store.

“Something to be experienced”
We stayed for 2 nights at Sanjokan which is their property on the hilltop. Huge room that was well maintained for its age. Incredible sunrise views from the ocean view room. We appreciated that they changed the dishes in our half buffet for the first evening vs. second evening. The tempura was amazing. Some of the staff can't speak English but they still tried their best to assist, with a pleasant attitude. The unique cave onsen is something to be experienced!

“Had a great 3 nights, beautiful area.”
Onsen was fabulous, view of ocean while relaxing in hot spring. The breakfast and dinners were great with lots of variety. The room was awsome with a view of the bay, spacious and clean.

Biggest room on my tour. Two rooms, split toilet, bath and shower Extrem good Onsen (4 different in one place). Cave Onsen is very special, and I will remember sun rise 05:00am. Very clean Breakfast (Japanese style) ok Dinner, very good and all you can eat. Shuttle by boat (limited time checkout rush, and check in time) alternative bus. Starting both at same position. Impressive the entree to the upper rooms. Space Walk escalator is a expierence.

“reserved one room - got a different one”
Great location on top of the hill, with a beautiful view. Clean facilities. Excellent food choices if you like seafood and Japanese breakfast. Great choice of onsens in the hotel and charming atmosphere with everyone walking around in same yukatas. Quick, easy and well-organised check-in, as well as transport from the hotel to the pier and back.

“If you go there by car when you returning to the parking you take a shuttle bus directly not ferry.”

“Excellent accom post kumano kodo”
Excellent!! Best accomodation during our trip, and wonderful choice to relax after completing Kumano Kodo. Excellent value for money with great buffets for dinners and breakfasts, and cave onsens were wonderful!

Our room was spacious and had a sea view which was amazing. There are massage chairs around the building which were perfect after our Kumano Kodo hike. The dinner and breakfast buffets had a wide variety of options, and we even got to witness how a huge tuna was cut into sashimi. The main reason I booked this place was because of the cave onsen which didn't disappoint. If I remember correctly, there were three baths inside the cave onsen for women. I went a little late after dinner to avoid the crowd, so I got some alone time in the smaller bath. Was very peaceful. I think there's even a trail up the mountain if you take one of the doors up the Space Walker. We tried to go outside and take a peek but it was raining hard and the wind was strong, so we didn't continue up the path. Must be nice if the weather were better.

Great Hotel! The onsen facilities (especially caves) are neat and super relaxing. The location and ocean views are stunning. Also, the ferry/shuttle bus is pretty convenient.
