Excellent stay, beautiful room and bathroom, spotless. Coffee, tea, water, fridge provided. Cute terrace. We could borrow also bicycle. Walking distance to the city. Nice breakfast. They can also prepare dinner however we didn’t try. Wifi good and hot shower as well. Very comfy bed.

“A lovely place to stay for anyone planning a safari in Yala”

We only stayed one night at Kataragama Homestay before our safari in Yala, but we really enjoyed our stay. The room was pleasant, the bed comfortable, and the small terrace surrounded by greenery made the place feel peaceful and relaxing. We booked our safari through their provider in Block 1 since Block 5 was flooded, and we were not disappointed at all. Visiting in May meant there were fewer tourists, which made the experience even better. We were even lucky enough to spot a leopard!

Very friendly hosts

I had a wonderful stay here! The location is peaceful and features a beautiful garden. The rooms are very nice and clean. While the property isn't located right in the village center, it is perfectly situated—just a short walk away, or a quick ride using the bicycles you can conveniently borrow right on site. I also recommend booking a safari directly through the homestay. I did this and had a great experience; the guide was friendly, experienced, and made the whole trip memorable.

Amazing homestay, lovely ladies who run it. They organised a safari trip for me too at a good price. The room is spacious and clean, comfortable bed and mosquito nets to stop you getting bitten I loved it here, will stay again if I return to Kataragama

“Comfortable and elegant Homestay”

We loved our stay here and were sad to leave! The two guest rooms have been recently renovated so they were very clean and elegantly designed inside and out. Nice furniture and good air conditioning. The surrounding gardens were beautiful, full of fruit trees attracting a range of birds. We even had a monitor lizard stroll past us on the terrace! Our hosts were warm and friendly hosts and the Homestay was only a short walk or cycle from the town centre and sacred precinct. All in all an excellent experience and superb value for money.

“Great base to explore Yala and Kataragama”

Lovely and new building. 1 of 2 units. We really enjoyed our stay here. The room is a good size, and perfectly clean. The AC is effective, and the shower room is good. Outside, there is a hammock and chairs to relax. The family are able to manage organising a safari in Yala. We also decided to stay beyond our safari and exploring Kataragama is absolutely worth spending an extra day for. The family provide bikes which make exploring the town easy as it is not far by bike (5 mins)

Really nice homestay, beautiful rooms and very kind host family. They cooked us a very nice dinner on both nights for a good price. There are free bikes that can be used to visit the nearby sacred city. They organize safari trips to Yala as well They even drove us to our next destination. Highly recommend

One of the most beautiful accomandations we had during our trip in Sri Lanka. The familx was incredibly welcoming and made us ferl at home right away. They even helped me organize a birthday surprise for my boyfriend. We would definitely stay here again!

“Perfect! Lovey hosts, good location, clean room!”

Wow!! This was one of our favourite stays in Sri Lanka, the room was modern, clean, had nice hot showers and in a perfect location. They allowed us to use the bikes for free so we could ride into town for dinner, we recommend the Wild Edge restaurant. The hosts were lovely we were greeted with traction our arrival. They organised a safari for us and it was the best experience we’ve had so far! I would 100% recommend people to stay here!

Had a perfect stay! Incredible value for money, and would definetly recommend doing their safari if offered , was a definite highlight of our stay! Staff incredibly kind providing us with extra tea coffee etc and even organising and driving us to our next destination following our stay.

We had a wonderful two nights' stay at the Kataragama Homestay. It belongs to a very warm-hearted family. The two rooms are freshly renovated and in the middle of the owner's garden surrounded by beautiful plants. There is a big terrace with lots of seating possibilities. The rooms were very clean with a fridge and a kettle. The bed was comfy and had a mosquito net. The breakfast was delicious with fruits, omelettes, toast bread and jam and butter. They have three bicycles which we could have for free and discover the surrounding area. The owner organised a safari in the Yala National Park for us to a reasonable price incl. breakfast and with a nice guide.
