“Real jungle experience.”

Everything was more than perfect!!! It gave a feel of real tree house. The owner is the sweetest person & he plays drum amazingly well.

Safari Value: At 25,000 for private as I was solo with breakfast included (bakery items), the safari was a good price and definitely the highlight of the trip. Vibe: It’s a very cool, rustic place to stay if you want to feel immersed in nature. Cleanliness: The room was fairly clean, which I appreciated given the jungle setting Had dinner there on my first night as it is about 30 minute walk to the main town area, the dinner I had was excellent a really tasty vegetable curry with potato.

“Animal cruelty, avoid at all costs”

This is the worst place where I have ever stayed, super dirty and riddled with insects (I’ve stayed plenty of times in the jungle and never have seen such a badly maintained place). I wasn’t going to post a review as the hosts seemed nice, but unfortunately, on the last day just before checking out, I saw a few behaviours of ANIMAL ABUSE that leave me no option but to warn future travelers. The owner keeps a lot of animals, but apart from the dogs that look in good condition, the rest are not well kept. Multiple rabbits mixed with a guinea pig were kept in a small fence with concrete and no proper bedding, and we noticed a HALF DEAD young rabbit. The hosts tried to gaslight me in saying it was a newborn and that was dead, when he was clearly a couple of weeks old and still moving, but struggling. A part from this, we also saw a monkey being CHAINED with the excuse of having rescued her - she looked severely distressed and had calluses and small injuries on the waist where the chain is. This is heartbreaking and ILLEGAL (we went to the police to file a report and they confirmed us this), so if you love animals avoid this place at all costs. Pictures as proof. Now, having read a few other reviews and the response of the owner to the negative ones, I expect him to call me double faced or unhappy like a scolded child would do

Beautiful little place hidden in the forest. The people love their animals. In the evening we got delicious food with a bonfire afterwards

location to the yala! the staff were really nice and enjoyed hanging out with the rescue monkey. dinner was a standout and ease of the yala park safari. I was even leant insect repellant which I forgot to give back.. sorry! drums performance at night was cool to be part of next to the fire.

“Our opinion there”

Overall, our stay at the hotel was pleasant – the place is beautiful, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the staff are kind and welcoming. However, it’s important to understand that the concept is quite hippie and unconventional – for example, the toilet has no door, and dinner is shared at one table with the other guests. For some people, this may feel like a charming experience. Unfortunately, I am giving a low rating because of the treatment of animals. There was a small baby monkey chained on the property that kept crying, likely because it was alone. For me, this is unacceptable treatment of an animal, especially when there are free monkeys around the area. It was very upsetting to witness. There are also several dachshunds on the property that appear well cared for and friendly, but they bark throughout the night – often right in front of the guest cottages. This significantly disturbed our sleep. Additionally, the air conditioner in our room was not working, which made the nights uncomfortable. The place has potential and many positive qualities, but these issues strongly affected our experience.

“Fantastic, magical stay”

Absolutely stunning place, if you love nature, this stay is a must. I stayed in the tree house, which was so comfortable. The host and all staff are great. They provide a dinner and breakfast, not to forget a cold beer. The setting of this place is magical... You can walk to the temple and town by foot around 25min. Xxx

“Even with no expectation, the worst experience in booking.”

Room plenty of spiders and bugs even inside the bed clothes. Request a change of room and the answer is “this is the jungle, bro”. No intimacy inside the room, something that I would like to know before to go, that there is no door separating toilet from bed space. The water is straight from the river, flowing with a brown color, becoming the first place in Sri Lanka where I couldn’t trust in terms of higiene. All kind of sounds at all hours, being heard inside the room as we were outside, without even being able to close the window. Loud music until midnight and early sounds starting at 5.30 (barks, main door opening and closing so loudly because we were just at the entrance).

Great vibe with a drumming concert each night which you can be part of. The creator Ferdinand Alsonso is a very warm guy. His number two guy Shaun is equally great.
