I was there alone so there weren't any other travellers to talk to, however the staff is all friends and they were hanging out there when I arrived. One of the staff spoke good English so we chatted for a couple of hours before he had to head home. They let me try some of there home-grown tea which was very nice. It's very clean inside and it looks like they did a really nice renovation while retaining the character of an old Japanese home. Driving to the location and parking was easy.

I looooved this guest house and only wish I had given myself more time in Kashima to take better advantage of this wonderful chilled out, peaceful place. Hiroya was a very kindly host. The beautiful music, the fantastic social / relaxation spaces in the communal areas. And a very spacious traditional Japanese room.

Friendly and welcoming hosts, very comfortable stay with everything you need in a quiet and very interesting town and area.

Close to the station, very clean, historical building, very kind host.

Beautiful old building with a variety of rooms (Japanese style or dorm style). I stayed a night in each and enjoyed both. The staff were so kind and all did their best to converse with me. I also ordered breakfast for one morning which was rice balls and miso soup. So nice. A really memorable and authentic stay in a stunning part of Japan.

Amazing house and staff!

“Super cozy, comfortable and quiet guesthouse. Great location close to train station and free parking”

The guesthouse is great! We arrived shortly before 6pm and were shown the annex building and our beds. Checking was a breeze and the staff showed us where we could park our car (literary behind the building, 20m from the entrance). There was only one other guest the night we stayed, and it was super quiet and comfy. The beds were big (each bed could easily sleep 2 people!) and comfortable. The guesthouse was spotless clean. Would definitely book again.

Very friendly staff, clean rooms and lots of amenities. Beds where comfortable. Layout of the house is cool. Only stayed one night, but would have loved to stay longer. Until next time!

“Homey vibe stay!”

Amazing location, 2' from the station, 5' from "brewery street", 10' from convenient store. Friendly and helpful staff, he gave me some area must sees. I was travelling with a bike, they were so nice about it and made so easy, which I was so grateful for. The dormitory was very comfortable and clean. The shared bathroom/toilet were kept super clean and tidy. The common space was very friendly and tidy, with a shared all amenities kitchen. It felt very at home! It's a very cute and homey vibe guesthouse! The area has a lot to offer too, would highly recommend staying there!

Everything was perfect, i really enjoyed the feeling of this place, and the staff is so nice ! I’ll definitely stay again as soon as I can. Thank you so much Maru Guest house !

“Charming and Cozy Guesthouse”

Guesthouse Maru is an old, traditional house converted into a guesthouse. It retains a lot of the old house charms and character. It's very cozy, and peaceful. The whole place was very clean and the room comfortable. It is a stone throw from Hizen-Hama train station and easy walking distance to Hizen Hamashuku, the old street with sake breweries.

Very clean and bed is comfortable.

The location couldn't be easier, very close to the train and town.

“A friendly and kind host”

It is an annex to a beautiful house and close to a historical street with sake makers. The host is wonderfully kind and helpful. We took a sweet local train to the next town to eat. It is two minute walk to a small train station.

“Perfect stay!”

I loved everything! It’s a traditional house. The hosts were the nicest people, helpful beyond what is required and I cannot thank them enough for how kind they were. Everything was super clean, the room is spacious, the bathroom facilities were great and shampoo etc provided. The giraffes everywhere were cute and gave a homely feeling. Also, it’s near the station, so you literally walk 100m (with my heavy luggage it was a blessing!) and you’re there.

Good experience for my children who never been to traditional Japanese house, so the guest house concept gives that right vibes. The only Staff in the guest house is really doing his best to provide good service despite not being able to speak single English.
