“Great place but too expensive for what it is now”

The stuff was very unhelpful. We often felt like we were making a problem by going to the activity center or when asking for something. Since you pay a lot for a night here, we would expect that the stuff suggests you something when we say we are not sure, while they were always silent and hoping to finishing the conversation asap. It was similar with waiters - they seemed like they really didn’t like their job, they were sad, didn’t know answer for basic questions (like if we need to sign sth if the meal is included). Also with the guy that was hosting as at the reception when we arrived - we felt like they didn’t want us to be there. He was super serious and unfriendly whenever we asked for sth. I wanted to get rid of my cash because we were finishing our journey, and I asked if I can pay halfy with cash (USD) and halfy by card. The host said yes and just gave me the card terminal, without specifying the currency exchange rate, which turned out to be very high and not attractive to me. There was some professionalism missing. When we got to our room, although it was already after 3pm, it was still being cleaned. And when the cleaning lady left, we realized there is no a single towel in our room. These all are not big things. It happens, sure. It simply does not fit to the very high price to pay for this lodge. Our feeling was like it was a standard, big hotel with too many guests where there is too much chaos and thus it should not be advertised and priced as a fancy semi-private lodge.

A luxury resort with many restaurants....our favourite was Sedudu which offered authentic, grill cuisine. The breakfast buffet was excellent. There are 3 different room categories...river rooms were fantastic. Game safari (thanks to Aaron) was an amazing experience...we were meters away from an elephant. During a private boat trip over lunchtime we were fortunate to see 2 families of elephants and a group of hippos. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this lodge to our family and friends.

“Luxurious stay right alongside the river.”

We stayed in a spacious room with a view of the river which we enjoyed. The room was very well appointed with plenty of storage space and very comfortable with a nice bathroom. There was a huge selection of foods for breakfast and dinner and hot food at breakfast was prepared to order. Staff were very friendly and efficient - lots of smiles and very willing to help. We booked game drives and a sunset cruise through the activity desk at the hotel and they were excellent.

The hotel just finished a big part of the renovations so it looks new and modern yet still retaining their African charm. The bar n restaurants were great and the safari tours led by their own team were amazing.
