Overview
This hostel is in Karlstad, 5 minutes’ drive from the city centre. It offers functional rooms with access to a common room with kitchen and TV. Wi-Fi and on-site parking are free. Bed linen and towels are not included. Carlstad Sport Hostel is set in an impressive old military building. All rooms have wooden floors and a work desk, and most feature a TV. “Excellent budget option”
Very nice and helpful staff, the room was simple but nice and clean, and the breakfast buffet was good with a nice selection of things. Excellent value for the money.

“A lovely big room with large beds.”
It was so lovely to arrive here after our journey from Gothenburg. The kitchen was large and there were good facilities and tables. There was a good supermarket nearby and it wasn't a particularly difficult walk to the centre of Karlstad. We were able to walk here from the bus and train station quite easily, despite having large backpacks.

“Bad experience”
It wasn't clean. The blanket was stinking (that I had paid extra). At night someone got in the room and he wanted to sleep there, without he has booked this room.

“Lovely big old building”
A lovely big old institutional building, feels like boarding school, done up well, with wide corridors and flights of stairs. All very smooth for check in (self) and check out. I chose it to avoid paying Oslo prices. The town is very pleasant, and I'm glad I stopped there where normally I would have sped through on the train

Carlstad Sport Hostel is a 20 minute walk from the centre of Karlstad so it's location is ideal for postprandial exercise. Pernilla went above and beyond when I experienced difficulties in fulfilling my financial obligations - NB visitors should know that 🇸🇪 is a cashless society so if your card is blocked on your travels or you can't access your banking app for whatever reason have a Plan B The sheet thread count is > 500 so I had two nights of high quality sleep
