“Good basic accommodation quite deep in Sweden away from the main North-South-route on Finnish side”
Good basic accommodation quite far from the main tourist routes - but still very comfortable. We had an apartment with HUGE dining hall - living room-complex plus two sleeping rooms, two toilets, a kitchen... So, a lot of space. The breakfast was good and the parking easy next to the rooms. Very quiet-looking place...

“We had an unforgetable stay and will most definately return!”
We had an absolutely unforgettable stay at this charming small-scale hotel in Swedish Lapland with one of the true highlights of our visit being the exceptional hospitality of the owners, Lotta and Isak. They are incredibly warm, welcoming, and genuinely interested in their guests. With family roots in the region going back centuries, they offer fascinating insights into life in modern Swedish Lapland, sharing stories about how local families live in harmony with nature and adapt to the extreme cold. Their passion and authenticity truly enriched our stay. A special mention goes to the delicious homemade treats. The traditional bread, homemade jam, and refreshing lemonad were delicious and the traditional wood-fired Gurki to die for. The location is simply breathtaking. The hotel (a former elementary school) sits right by a river, offering stunning views of the forests on the opposite bank. The frozen river allows for ice fishing, enjoying a snowmobile tour or snowshoe walks, and we even had a picnic right on the ice. The accommodation itself is spacious, clean, and basic but wonderfully warm. That was exactly what we needed in the wintery environment. The appartment was equipped for a stay that was both relaxing and active. In addition to admiring the Northern Lights, we visited a reindeer herder, experienced an authentic sauna, and grilled sausages over a self-made wood fire deep in the forest. If you’re looking for a true home in Lapland, this is the place. A small-scale accommodation with genuine care for guests, deep respect for the surrounding environment, and a strong connection to the local culture. We will most definitely return.

“Perfect”
Our experience was absolutely wonderful and truly unforgettable. We had the incredible privilege of seeing the northern lights right from the hotel’s backyard and even through the window of our room, which made the stay even more magical. The host was exceptionally kind, warm, and attentive. She personally notified us when the lights appeared at night, ensuring we didn’t miss this breathtaking natural phenomenon. Her hospitality made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. The rooms were extremely comfortable, spotless, and very well maintained. The hot water was excellent, the heating system worked perfectly, keeping us warm and cozy despite the cold outside, and the breakfast was simply exceptional — fresh, delicious, and prepared with great care. We also truly appreciated the complimentary coffee, which was a lovely and thoughtful touch. Everything exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend this place and would absolutely love to return in the future.

“Super clean and cozy place with superb breakfast, extras for small kids”
Extremely friendly person received us on the reception, super clean room & shower/toilet and common areas, superb breakfast and interesting environment in the middle of the village in this old primary school (I assume). Our kids are over 20 yrs but with small kids there's a sandy area on the yard, equipped with steel structured toy excavators that they can sit on and move some sand. There's also a real vintage wheel bulldozer to check out. Our kids would have loved all that when they were below school age.

We were told that the lodge used to be a school until 2020 and was only recently turned into a place to stay the night. You can realy feel the school vibes in the building still. Our room used to be the teachers lounge and it was very spacious with a small kitchen and two seperate toillets and a shower and even an entrance area to hang our coats and shoes. There was also a public kitchen and dining area we could use to cook our dinner which we bought in the local small supermarket. The lady who check us in and served us breakfast was very friendly and used to go to the school herself back in the day. Everything felt very uncomplicated and authentic. Overall the value for money was amazing and the experience was very unique - i can definitely recommend a stay here!

“One night stop driving back from Norway to Oulu with nice surprises”
The host is amazing, very nice and welcoming, willing to entertain you and explain all the details and offers the place has. Huge rooms obtained by converting an old school into an hotel with common kitchen and dining areas. Bathroom are somehow very basic and old fashion, but all the areas are SPOTLESS clean! You can tell the owner really cares about her business and love the place. Wifi works, free open air parking and plenty of silence and calm around to witness northern lights if you are lucky.

“An amazing way to experience Sweden like you’re a local”
My stay was amazing! Lotta, the host was so kind, welcoming and accommodating to make the stay everything I wanted. The best part about staying here is the ease and quality of the available activities/excursions. I tried snow shoeing, snowmobiling and I highly recommend the fire hut with traditional food as well as the outdoor sauna! What an experience! You don’t have to worry about searching to find activities at different places it is all at one place, straight from your room!

The rooms were great, and very clean. Lotta’s artworks were beautiful and brightened the place up. The kitchen was excellent and the common areas were tastefully decorated. The view from our window looked out towards the river which was lovely.

We had a great stay at Kuttainen Lodge! Lotta and her husband are really nice and welcoming hosts which made us feel right at home! They're actually renovating the town‘s old school to turn it into a hostel. The place also still has the charm of an old school, which we found quite entertaining. Our room was clean and comfortable with a lovely view. We highly recommend Kuttainen Lodge for a unique and welcoming place to stay. We'd love to visit again!
