Overview

A 7-minute walk from Karatsu Castle, Mizuno Ryokan offers quiet Japanese-style rooms with stunning panoramic ocean views. It offers free Wi-Fi, free bicycles and a bath with a cypress bathtub (not a hot spring). Free parking is available on site. Rooms have a relaxing interior with tatami (woven-straw) flooring and floor-to-ceiling windows with a seating area overlooking the ocean. A flat-screen TV, refrigerator and private bathroom are included. Yukata are provided. Guests at Ryokan Mizuno are greeted with complimentary green tea as they enter the gates of a four-century-old samurai residence. Japanese meals are served for breakfast and dinner at the guests rooms, and feature local specialities like seafood and Saga vegetables. Mizuno Ryokan is a mere 3-minute stroll from Karatsu Bay, and only a 10-minute walk from Hikiyama Exhibition Hall and Karatsu Jinja Shrine. The old pine forest of Nijinomatsubara is a 15-minute walk.

The food was the best of any Ryokan I've ever staged in. We were treated to local delicacies, prepared by skilled practitioners. The staff were also very accommodating and hospitable. Would highly recommend. And the space was clean, large, modern, and comfortable.

We thought we booked a ryokan.. but I turned out to be a beach villa. The ryokan has a couple of beach villa’s outside the ryokan. The beach villa had beach front, but was very European. Nothing Japanese. It was not so cozy. We asked if we could eat in the ryokan next door, and luckily we could. The food was very good and the ladies who worked there were very kind. The ryokan itself looked very nice, for the part we have seen. The beach villa had thin walls so we heared every noise. There was no hot water in the morning snd the airconditioning made a loud noise, which kept us awake all night. Unfortunately we spend to much money for this accommodation.
