Rest in Karasamb is mind-blowing for several reasons. The Ambience The natural environment is unbeatable. The air is excellent, it's mountainous, so it’s a sheer pleasure to breathe it. Second, water. Again, it's splendid, it's tasty, pure and fresh. Locals resemble hobbits: warm, hospitable and joyful. While roaming through the local villages, you can hear “What can I offer you: coffee and something stronger?” from a stranger. The Splendour Hunter You can rent a bicycle and set off exploring different cultural and natural wonders every day. They are many – simply borrow the special map from Karin Jan or open Google maps to find innumerable places of interest be they natural features or monasteries. You’ll feel like an archaeologist making discoveries. For instance, you can reach the site of the ancient, half-ruined monastery called Neghuts. Inside, you’ll feel the energy of ancient Christians conducting their services – unforgettable. The Culture You can take a ride in a time machine here: simply go to the nearby church on a Sunday morning and witness the service. The feel of first Christians worshiping Jesus Christ in caves is guaranteed. The Homestay Another source of joy is the landlady and landlord Karin Jan and Garegin Jan – warm and tactful locals eager to share their hospitality. The cottage is excellent: the natural materials - stone and wood - and the absence of plastic create a pleasant environment. By the way, if you’re an avid reader, there’s a well-stocked library in the cottage. The Dog I'd also urge you to feed the wonderful dog called Ruki. She’s as affectionate as most stray dogs in Armenia and will will guard you against the non-existent ill-wishers. She’ll also offer to scratch her tummy and will eagerly follow you on your walks to the river. When I stayed here, I took her to one of the nearby shops daily and bought her a piece of sausage. Shine on, Armenia!

The place is amazing. Furbished with love. Great owmer that speaks a very good english and makes you feel at home. Special treats: the garden and the terrace on top of the room where you can have a coffee with mountain view.

A cozy place to relax with your mind and body. Especially to relax from the city bustle and noise and enjoy the countryside scenery. The room was all necessary for the stay.Both the village and the apartments are very atmospheric and inspiring themselves.Special thanks to the hostess Karin for the hospitality and goodwill, as well as valuable recommendations during the trip.Already thinking of visiting again and again:)

“Absolutely mindblowing!”

This was one of the best experiences during our travel here in Armenia. The hostess was lovely, spoke english and we had such a beautiful time conversing with her! She told us quite a bit about the place and she had gone to extreme lengths to make sure our stay was pleasant! The room was so quaint and romantic and beautiful! It really exceeded our expectations and we had the most wonderful time here! We spent most of the night on the terrace gazing at stars and our hostess made us an exceptional traditional dinner. There was nothing lacking here and everything was provided already!

The location of the house is clearly marked on the map, communication with Kima (the host) is impeccable. She addresses all points in the message even if it contains a lot of them. It was possible to agree about everything in advance (Thank you for making so many exceptions, it was kind and unexpected). Kima’s family is convivial and harmonious. They respect personal boundaries (the house you gonna live in is located on a plot with the big house of the family). We very much enjoyed the opportunity to be guests in your own house, to spend an evening with you baking pancakes. The guest house is small yet beautifully decorated and well-furnished. The water temperature in the shower won’t suddenly drop, cold and hot water mix easily. The heating works flawlessly, without a doubt book it in winter. Karashamb village is charming and picturesque place that evokes a cinematic quality. We explored the nature and architecture around the village: the gorge of the Hrazdan river, the caves, the ruins of a temple, the fields and fascinating mountain views that are accessible even via windows in the petite house. You can ask Kima for directions. The are 2 shops in the village with everything except for fresh meat. It is a perfect place to find peace and inspiration, to reconnect with nature.
