“So friendly and the best local breakfast you will not expect”
If you think, what place to choose in Karakol for accommodation, take this one. It's run by Dunkan (originally from China) family and their hosting is really a class. Unfortunately, you need to manage Russian (what I do). Anyway, their breakfast is something itself. There is nothing luxury and it was pretty cold in a room but the heater was organised. Wifi was strong and there are marshrutkas nearby (200 m) to bus station.

“Hostal Ilbris is perfect as location in Karakol”
We really enjoyed our stay at Hostel Ilbris. The owner was very friendly. Because of the weather we were not sure if it is possible to hike to the Ala Kul Lake, his brother gave us all the necessary information and even called us to make sure that we are safe because of the snow. It was also no problem to leave our luggage for one night. The room as well as the shared bathroom was clean and comfortable. The traditional breakfast was nice and more than enough. We felt very welcome! :)

“Great guesthouse with big breakfast portions”
The rooms are in beautiful old building with ornate wooden construction. The showerhead was certainly the best I've used in the region, and possibly ever. Absolutely massive breakfast portions -- I'm sure this depends on the day, but what we were served as just sides to the breakfast was more than the entirety of the breakfast served at other guesthouses. The let me store my bike there while I went to Bishkek for a few days free of cost.

I loved it here. The couple that owns it are so sweet. I managed to get pretty far with my terrible Russian and chit-chated with them. The room was really nice. Big bathroom. And oh my gosh, the breakfast was MASSIVE. Really huge. Sometimes I just couldn't even finish it because they gave me so much! A great place as a base for some hiking.
