“I didn't stay at Chabbra Niwas Kanpur”

I booked Chabbra Niwas Kanpur, a hotel in Kanpur which Booking.com states is only 1.5km from the train station. After booking, I located it on Google Maps and found it was 6.5kms from the railway station. I only booked it because I had a 6am train and needed to be close to the station. Soon after my booking, someone from Chabbra Niwas Kanpur rang me. When I told them that I didn't want to proceed with the booking because the distance from the railway station was wrongly stated, the guy said something like, "oh yes, I will fix that", so they definitely know it's wrongly stated. Furthermore, he told me just to cancel the booking and we'd be good. So I looked at that but soon recognised that by canceling the booking, I'd be charged the full amount anyway. I called back and asked them to cancel the booking for the reasons just stated. They said they would but I've not seen any confirmation. Clearly this is a scam to get suckers to book on the expectation of close proximity to the railway station. This cost me a huge amount of time traipsing around trying to find a hotel last minute... it was awful. Frankly, I think people who do this sort of thing should be removed from Booking.com. I'd also appreciate it if you could confirm whether or not my credit card was charged? Thank you in advance for your help. Best regards, Bruce
