Tucked away from the bustle of the main road and approached through a few winding roads, Mount Haven offers a truly peaceful hilltop retreat. And the moment you arrive and meet the warm hosts - Dr. Nimal and his lovely wife - you instantly know you’ve found a special place. The views from the property are absolutely breathtaking, especially if you opt for the balcony room, which allows you to soak in the landscape right from your doorstep. The caretaker, who also doubles up as the chef, is extremely helpful and attentive. Breakfast here is prepared with genuine care and warmth, adding to the homely charm of the stay. The rooms are comfortable, and thanks to the elevated location, the surroundings remain pleasantly cool. The terrace is a wonderful spot for bird lovers, with plenty of bird activity in the mornings. A serene, welcoming homestay that offers both warmth and wonderful views.

Mount Haven is an excellent place to stay. The property is amazing with great bedrooms and amazing views. It is extremely well maintained and the owners are very polite and courteous. Location is a little tricky to reach to but Google Maps came in very handy. Overall we enjoyed our stay here. Thank You.

The rooms are in a huge family house on top of the mountain. We lived in a room on the second floor. The apartment itself is a bit further away from the city center, which was great for us as it is further away from all of the noise and chaos which Kandy brings. As well as the tuktuk costs only 400-500 rupees from the city. So, it didn’t cause any discomfort. The room itself was clean and had lovely views to the nature. Hosts were really sweet and gave us great recommendations. We also had great breakfast here. The selection might look smaller compared to other stays, but that was just enough for us to feel full and start the day. If needed, the host could easily arrange the ride to Nuwara Eliya, however, we’ve got the ride on our own.

“Charming home stay, excellent value”

Terrific value. The room we stayed in was large with a beautiful balcony. Dr Nimal and his family are charming hosts keen for you to enjoy your stay and get the most from Kandy. We turned up with a driver and Dr Nimal organised a room for him too which we appreciated. We were supplied with a good fan and mosquito netting and had no problems and slept very well. The house is fascinating and perched high up in the suburbs of Kandy. Nice breakfasts too - lovely homemade rotis, for example. Overall we loved our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

My family and I had an extraordinary stay at Mount Haven. Located high in the serene villa neighborhood of Asgiriya, this home offers the perfect balance of luxury and authentic warmth. The hosts, Dr. Nimal and Mrs. Lanka, treated us like their own family from the moment we arrived late at night. Their home is designed with exquisite taste. We were welcomed with a refreshing drink and they even helped organize a late-night dinner delivery for us. Their staff was wonderful, handling our luggage with care. Mrs. Lanka is a master of Sri Lankan cuisine; her breakfasts were delicious, and she so kindly shared her recipes with us. Dr. Nimal, was incredibly attentive, even providing medical guidance and care when we needed it—a gesture we deeply appreciated. A huge thanks to the house driver, Dammiker. His vast knowledge of local culture, botany, and hidden spots made our trips so much richer. He is much more than a driver; he is a fantastic guide. The rooms were perfect: comfortable beds, hot water in the bathroom, and massive windows that allowed us to enjoy the fresh breeze and perfect light. If you are visiting Kandy, this is the place to stay!"

Nimal & Lanka were the most wonderful hosts. Their house is beautiful and our room was divine & comfortable with exceptional views. They offered a very homely stay, would love to come back & visit again ❤️ breakfast was incredible also!

I have stayed with Nimal and Lanka several times before (and so has my daughter, separately, in 2025). Always welcoming, helpful, chatty but never intrusive. They are well travelled and simply enjoy the pleasure of hosting. I wouldn't stay anywhere else. And it's very good value too.

We had such a lovely stay at Mount Haven. Everything was clean. The bed sheets and towels smelled absolutely AMAZING and there was hot water in the shower. We even got breakfast to go on a day we had a super early morning. Dr. Nimal and Lanka were wonderful hosts and it was such a pleasure to get to know them. They truly made our stay special. Mount Haven is located in a quiet street, but is just a short walking distance away from the city centre. Could not recommend this place more!!! We would come back 100 times over.

Mount Haven was the perfect place for our stay. We loved being up in the peacefulness of the hills, while still being so close to the city. The room was perfect and breakfast a delicious mix of sri lankan delicacies and fresh fruit. We couldn't have asked for more from our wonderful hosts.
