It was a wonderful stay - like visiting relatives. The house is spacious, the bedroom is cozy with a balcony. The owners are super nice and caring. They cook big breakfast and dinner by request. The location is outside the city - very chill and quiet.

A great homestay. Lovely owners who are always smiling and helpful. The building is spacious and the rooms with attached bathrooms were well presented, very clean and large. Breakfast and evening meals were delicious. Nice balcony with views of the mountains. Cute cats. Peaceful and calm location away from the bustle of Kandy. Short tuk tuk ride to the lake and entrance to temple and palace.

“Comfortable, peaceful, and great value”

Lalanga homestay is one of the loveliest homestays I have stayed at. The room is comfortable, the family are so sweet and attentive, and there are various extra touches to make the stay more comfortable - for example drinking water is provided, which is a big plus. Auntie is also the most incredible cook! I know that for us Western tourists, curry for breakfast can feel strange but I would highly recommend that you choose the Sri Lankan breakfast, it is DELICIOUS! Dinner is only 1,200 extra and is delicious, with huge portions. I felt like I was eating like a queen! The location was also great for me, I was very pleased to be outside the city centre as it meant the room was so quiet throughout the night. It would have been nice to have AC, as it was very hot to only have a fan, but it is totally understandable why AC would not be included given the price (and current increases in energy prices). Perhaps they could consider allowing guests to use the AC for a small surcharge, to cover energy costs whilst enabling comfort. I only had one day in Kandy and wanted to see all the sights in one day. They arranged for a TukTuk driver, Pradeep, to show me around Kandy for the day. The price was very reasonable and Pradeep was great - he really made the effort to give me the best tour of Kandy. All in all, this place is amazing value and you won’t regret staying here!

The stay is located at a very peaceful location. The room was very clean and had every thing a traveller needs. Towel, hot water, comfy bed, clean toilet, water bottle. And the breakfast was really delicious. I ate stomach full 😄

Staff were extremely welcoming, food was amazing and the room had everything we needed. We had two Sri Lankan breakfasts at the homestay which tasted amazing. The room was spacious and clean and there was a balcony to sit and relax in the main living area.

Truly a home away from home! I had such a great stay and immediately felt at home. Only booked one night but ended up extending for three. The breakfast was varied each morning and delicious!!! The homestay is tucked away in a super cute village outside of the hectic city easily reachable by bus or tuktuk. I also did a tuktuk tour that the family organized and can highly recommend ☺️ I had an amazing time and can’t wait to be back!!

The best value for money accomodation there ever was!! The owners are so friendly, I had dinner there as well as breakfast and it all tasted amazing, they even adjusted to my dietary preferences. “The best accommodation I have ever stayed in.”

This hotel will stay with me forever. The couple running it are the warmest, friendliest people. The breakfast and food is amazing and such fantastic quality, there is always water available, comfortable bed, warm shower, peaceful location away from the busy city. This is the best hotel I have stayed in and it felt more like home. It is the first time I have felt so welcomed like a member of the family. The only sad part is that I’m leaving. Please stay here. You won’t regret it.

“A lovely stay!”

This is the lovely, peaceful home of a kind, friendly and helpful family, and it made for a very happy stay. We particularly enjoyed being on the outskirts of Kandy rather than in the more hectic centre, and there is a super arrangement with Pradeep, local tuk tuk driver, to make travel back into town and round and about very straightforward. Our host family looked after us beautifully and we enjoyed all our meals, particularly dinners which were tasty, varied and delicious. We even met the family pets - Jessie the dog, who stays outside, and Tandy Kitty, the tiny friendly cat. Pradeep deserves a special mention for his flexibility, happy to make good suggestions as to where we might like to go, but not offended when we decided to do less standard things instead (like getting a lovely cup of tea in the very simple cafe at the market). He was our preferred provider for onward travel too, taking us to Sigiriya via the cave temples at Dambulla, a significant distance but a very enjoyable journey, and one where we always felt safe and confident. Thank you all!

Fantastic homestay, large room, amazing food in a traditional Sri Lankan home. Both breakfast and dinner were tasty and plentiful. Extra charge for dinner, excellent value. Warm welcome and they kindly stored our luggage while we did a trek. In a quiet area. Great for accessing The Knuckles without going through Kandy traffic!

Fantastic stay in a traditional family home. Really warm welcome. We also had a fantastic dinner (extra cost, however excellent value.) They kindly stored our cases while we went trekking in the Knuckles. Quiet location, easy to get to without going through all the Kandy traffic.

“An Amazing Experience”

The Homestay is located outside Kandy on the river bank, about 5k from the city centre (around 10 minutes in Tuktuk), which was perfect for us, so peaceful! The whole place was spotless and beautifully decorated. The breakfast and dinner were delicious. The hosts were very friendly, kind and helpful, we had an amazing time there, and the whole experience had exceeded our expectations.

It was so nice to be back again after 1.5 years. I stayed here for two weeks before and really enjoyed my stay. They still remembered me and welcomed me like family. The house is even nicer now and still very clean. I also like the new paint — it looks great. Thank you Aunties and uncle.
