You can walk to the city center area. The manager was really helpful and arranged a cab for me. He also guided. The cooking class was very nice. There is a pool as well, but I didn’t have time to use it. He did arrange for an iron that I wanted.

I can't imagine finding another hostel anywhere in the world at this price that includes so much. Breakfast was great, and the vegetarian dinner was absolutely delicious with authentic local flavors. Guests can also join a free cooking experience, and the staff are incredibly kind, explaining everything with care and enthusiasm. The hostel even has a swimming pool, and the rooms come with AC. Can you imagine that at this price? The location is also wonderful, with about a 45-minute scenic walk along the lakeside to the Tooth Relic Temple. A fantastic place to stay in Kandy, and I would definitely recommend it.

The pool was super lovely The free brekky and dinner was amazing and all included £5 a night ! You can’t go wrong Little further away but makes it quiet which is nice especially with how busy Kandy is

Friendly, very kind and helpful staff are the highlight of this lovely hostel. Included breakfast (fried egg, 2 toast, coffee/tea) and family style dinner (typical Sri Lankan veggie curries, rice etc to serve yourself) ensure you meet your fellow guests which is great. Female dorm was clean and comfortable, and the 2 shared bathrooms on the same floor were enough for the guests staying there. Electric showers meant hot/warm water which is a nice change for Sri Lanka. 2 of the dorms have access to a shared balcony which is good for drying swimwear etc - important as this hostel has a small pool!

Good location, only short walk from the lake. Free breakfast and dinner that is delicious. You also get the option to partake in the dinner cooking class, a great way to learn about Sri Lankan culture and meet other travellers. The swimming pool is well maintained and a nice escape from the heat. There’s a wonderful dog and two kittens to keep you company as well. The rooms have AC and beds are comfortable. One of the best places I’ve stayed at in Sri Lanka and my go to whenever I’m in Kandy.

This gets a 10/10 not for the luxury of the place, it's a hostel, but because of the people and the price. Where can you get breakfast, dinner, and a perfectly comfortable bed and private shower with hot water, free cooking class, and a great pool for this sort of money. They also arranged everything for us, we had a tuk tuk and driver for 2 days, at a super price with a fantastic guide without all the hassle of bartering. The whole family that ran this place were just superb.

The hostel is very nice and cozy. The owner and the staff are extremely kind and welcoming. The dinner is good and creates a very friendly and warm atmosphere. Unfortunately, when I stayed there the hostel was not very busy, so I couldn’t fully experience how social it can be, although it definitely seems like a very social place. The few people who were there were very friendly and easy to talk to. They also have two kittens and a dog who are very sweet, friendly, and well taken care of. This is definitely a big plus!

I recently stayed at Kandy Backpackers Hostel, and overall it was a fun and worthwhile experience. The hostel offers great value for money and is conveniently located just a 15-minute walk from Kandy Lake. The pool area is a nice spot to relax during the day, and the cooking class was a fantastic added activity—the food was tasty, and it was fun sitting and cooking with fellow travelers. The family running the hostel were lovely and welcoming, which really enhanced the stay. The owner even tailored the cooking class one night to our vegetable preference which we were very grateful for! There’s also a strong social vibe, making it easy to meet other guests and share travel stories.

Good location, not to far of a walk outside the main town. The staff were great and the hostel was good! Breakfast and dinner provided with a lesson from the owner was a highlight! Great food! Had two cute kittens aswell!
