“Immaculate boutique hotel in the heart of old Kanizawa.”
This was a wonderful 2 night stay. The hosts were so welcoming and gracious. The facilities everywhere were immaculate. The location is perfect for the old part of the city. The restaurant was a genuine highlight. The taxi ride from the station was straightforward. There are only 4 rooms which makes it special. We feel lucky to have been able to stay here. A true highlight of our memorable trip to Japan.

“I’d go back there and stay again”
Beautiful boutique hotel . The owner Yama-San was super helpful and friendly. And so humble. All the staff were always willing to assist. The restaurant served a a top notched fine dining style jap-fusion. Very creative and delicious.

“Peaceful stay in Kanazawa”
Really beautiful roykan with lots of attention to detail in the design and style. Lovely big room with a comfortable bed. The owners are especially nice, going out of their way to organise taxis and dinner. Breakfast was lovely and whilst we didn’t eat at the hotel restaurant, we did have dinner at their sister restaurant which was probably the best meal of our whole trip. Definitely recommend.

Outstanding repeat stay - love location, design and meals here: dinner here is one of best we had over our many Japan trips, sit at counter to see chefs perform. Room is super-comfy, with views i side the lovely Japanese gardens

“Superb in every way!”
I’d give this 11/10 if I could. The owner and his team went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Lovely room with comfortable beds and a futon for our daughter (also comfortable) overlooking the peaceful garden. Breakfast each day was different, with several delicious courses. We had dinner one night at the hotel which was a gastronomical delight. All beautifully prepared in front of us. This hotel is situated in a quiet back street in the old town and walking distance from all the main places to see in Kanazawa. Not cheap but worth it. Highly recommended!

“You are smack bam in the Higashi Chaya District. Kanazawa & Maki No Oto is a hidden gem.”
Absolute highlight is the 10 course degustation Japanese food experience. My husband said it was the “Japanese meal he has ever experienced”! Do yourself a favour. If you stay here book the restaurant. While it might be considered expensive it really is a gastronomical affair of taste, sight and smells. Not too mention watching the chefs execute their art. Because let’s face it- you are watching food art happen right in front of you.

“Delightfully modern rooms in a traditional style house; well situated in the Higashi Chaya District”
The staff were charming and very helpful. The room was comfortable and well arranged. The bathroom was well appointed with every amenity you could want. The small kitchen was also well appointed with drinks.

Right in the centre of Kanazawa perfect location The evening food was amazing, on a par with Michelin level food, but a prewarning for Western travellers it’s quite traditional Japanese cusisine, as well as the breakfast in the morning.

Perfect location, beautiful room, restaurant, and meals and exceptional staff. Especially, Ryoma Sakai who was the best host we had all trip in Japan.
