“Wonderful stay”

A fantastic experience. Sleeping in such a historic place—a former samurai home. A private onsen, peace and quiet, wonderful breakfasts, and incredibly friendly service. We spent two wonderful days here.

“Beautiful and tranquil”

This was a relaxing place to stay. It’s tucked away next to the river, between the station and Higashi Chaya. The staff were lovely, and very caring, considerate of my pregnancy. The private onsen was excellent. If you are very tall, I recommend reconsidering as the room was once a tea room so very low, and doorways throughout are low.

“An awesome journey at Kanazawa”

The breakfast was awesome. A typical Japanese breakfast. Very tasty. Even though the location may be far from some tourist places, it is placed in a central location in Kanazawa where everything can be done by walking.

Absolutely Amazing if you want to experience a traditional japanese Home 150 years ago.

“A dream come true”

The Ryokan was beautiful, very clean, and smelled so nice! We loved wearing yukatas, the kaiseki dinner and all the staff were do 👍

Amazing location and staff were courteous. We had a great time here with dinner at the restaurant across the Ryokan which catered to our requirements (vegan and vegetarian) and really nice to experience authentic Japanese cuisine. The private bath was great as well as being provided with the samue and yukata to use. We had breakfast at the Ryokan which was really good and had drinks such as warm apple juice and teas and coffees available. It was reasonably close to areas we wanted to visit such as Higashi Chaya and Omicho Market.

Machi no Odoriba has been the highlight of our trip. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, and the Ryokan is absolutely dreamy. You have your own private onsen, a huge amount of space and a gorgeous garden. We couldn't have asked for anything more. The breakfast was utterly delicious, and we really appreciated them making us a bento box for the morning we had to head off early. Also, take them up on the restaurant offer for one night, the food was incredible!

We had an amazing stay at Machi No Odoriba. Beautifully managed with the most amazing staff that went well beyond the call of duty assisting us with a small health issue. We loved the property itself, the charming old Japanese style, the Japanese breakfast were great (you can also choose to have a European breakfast), but in particular the service. Also an amazing recommendation of our first night dinner at Hitotoki-Kanazawa, a restaurant literally opposite, which serves seasonal specific dishes.

Beautiful moment to relax. But still close to omicho market & Higashi Chaya. Gorgeous garden & house. Absolute highlight of our long trip. Food was delicious too! Staff were so accommodating, friendly & welcoming. Look forward to returning again.

Beautiful 150 year old building. Only 2 rooms so very private. You get your own garden and hot spring water in the bathroom. Service was excellent. We had the dinner package, which was fantastic. The chef was fantastic.
