“Superb”
We loved staying in a traditional ryokan and found the staff helpful and lovely. We would’ve loved an on site onsen but otherwise the property is very well positioned and courtyard gardens really beautiful. A great place to stay

“Authentic experience”
It was a true traditional experience. The room was more of a apartment, it was huge! We paid 700€ per night 2 pax halfboard. The food was excellent and the surrounding magic.

“Nice place, shame about the dinner!”
Again, it was centrally located with easy walking to most of the attractions. The welcome was professional and courteous, despite the language barrier. The room we occupied was enormous.

“Peaceful and 'authentically' Japanese. Loved it!”
A wonderfully relaxing place to stay. So peaceful and quiet I almost felt like the only guest! Loved the 'traditional' Japanese layout and styling. The (Japanese) breakfasts and dinners were fantastic and added to the feeling that I was experiencing authentic Japanese hospitality. Location was also great as everything I wanted to see in Kanazawa was all within easy walking distance.

“Excellent traditional style accommodation and food.”
Beautiful and large traditional style suites with tatami mat floors, screens, lovely garden. Included breakfasts and dinners were extraordinary feasts of traditional Kanazawa cooking presented beautifully in private dining rooms.

“Beautiful, intimate and special experience”
Incredible, intimate ryokan experience. Private dining rooms with amazing (albeit occasionally challenging for western palates) food. The volume of food was also significant with much larger portions than you would get on a tasting menu in the UK or for a breakfast out in the UK. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive and helped us with our kimonos. The staff may not speak much English but we are in Japan so should be speaking Japanese - not the other way around - and they all still tried very hard.

“Enjoy the experience”
They let you feel like a royalty. Beginning with welcome, through epic personal kaiseki dinner experience and finishing with personal breakfast room. If you don’t know anything, how to dress, how to eat particular dish, just ask. They will gladly help you and guide you.

Exceptional food (both dinner and breakfast - nice they had a western option for breakfast, though we went Japanese and really enjoyed it). Toiletries were also great, as was the bath. A lot more spacious than we were perhaps expecting. Overall an amazing Ryokan experience.

“exquisite authentically Japanese experience”
Exceptional food experience: the kaseiki evening meal and the breakfast were really outstanding in terms of the ingredients & the presentation. I especially enjoyed the incredible ceramics (like eating on museum grade ceramics) and the 2 exquisitely refined dining rooms looking out onto beautiful snowy garden views. If you appreciate antiques, historical lineage (the garden at the entrance is 500 years old), and 'wabi sabi' this is for you. It's not a place of modern conveniences but there's plenty of old school service and when you slow down you can really experience a profound relaxation.
