“Absolutely fantastic value guesthouse with excellent facilities and delightful owners”

Absolutely amazing stay at Villa Romdoul as our base for 4 days exploring around Kampot & Kep. Firstly, the hosts Naret & Sarong are delightful. Naret speaks reasonable English and actually built the whole place himself. The rooms are enormous and very well furnished. The beds are extremely comfortable too. The on site restaurant/bar serves very reasonably priced and fantastic quality home cooked food. We rented scooters at $8 per day and they are literally brand new - by far the best we have had across SE Asia. Some reviewers have mentioned the road leading to the property. Yes it is unpaved but it’s very easily navigated. The way some western people describe the road would lead you to believe you’re in an Indiana Jones movie. Honestly it’s fine and not at all unusual for SE Asia. If you don’t rent a scooter you will need to get around by tuk tuk and even though the villa is a little way from town we never had any difficulty in securing one via Grab or Pass. Even if you did then Naret has local contacts he will call for you. There are three very friendly cats on site who don’t really bother you at all. It would help to be a dog lover however as the little puppy although cute is very excitable! That said if you are even remotely uncomfortable Naret will remove the dog straight away. If you are looking for a base to explore this area that is high quality and competitively priced then we would absolutely recommend Villa Romdoul.

The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. I feel like home

I had a wonderful stay here. The room was very clean and comfortable. The house has a beautiful garden and is surrounded by greenery, which makes it very peaceful. It’s 10 minutes (drive) outside Kampot city center, and you feel completely immersed in nature. The hosts are incredibly warm and friendly. The road to the hotel is a bit bumpy, but the surrounding scenery more than makes up for it. If you re looking to stay within walking distance of the Kampot center, it might be a bit far, though you can easily rent a scooter or use Grab. Bonus: you can have fruits from the garden for breakfast

Out of all the places we stayed at in Cambodia Villa Romduol is the one I'm most likely to come back to, everything was just perfect ❤️ It's a bit further from the city but provides a motorcycle rental for a good price, the owners are super nice and helpful, and everything in the rooms is really great quality. And the whole place is just gorgeous!

Everything, i loved that all the furniture was made by himself! The views, the room was huge and super clean! The husband and wife were lovely and the dogs were super playful!

Even though I had read the positive reviews Villa Romduol exceeded my expectations. The room was the largest and most attractive we’ve stayed in on our 6 week trip and yet it was the cheapest! The gardens and dining/bar area are beautiful and the whole place is an oasis of calm. Our hosts were just delightful and the food and cocktails superb. If you are coming to Kampot, stay here!

“Amazing!”

I love the garden and present of animals. They have two little puppies, cats and chickens. It felt like being in heaven. The owners are super attentive and hospitable :) It’s possible to rent a motorbike and eat an amazing food in the restaurant. Bicycles are for free! Room was super clean, with amazing wooden furniture made by the owner. I wish I could stay longer 😊

We loved saying here. It's run by a very friendly and welcoming family. This felt more like a homestay with the lovely quiet gardens and great restaurant/bar area. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. It's out of town and down a bumpy dirt track which won't be to everyone's liking, but the effort to get there is well worth it. A tuk tuk into town was never more than $2. There was lot's to do in the area which the owners can help with if necessary.

“A beautiful rural garden hotel with delightful owners”

The hosts/owners, Naret and Sarong, are the most lovely people, I felt really looked after. So much so that they checked how my onward journey was going on the day I left, incredible! The room was beautifully done so I took a few photos for decor ideas! I didn’t have a scooter or a car so was reliant on tuk tuks. This wasn’t a problem really as the villa is just 10 minutes out of Kampot town and Grab is available. But I think having a scooter would be handy. The roads leading to the villa are unmade, but this is normal for the area. The villa is rural so I ate there each night and it was tasty. The outdoor restaurant and seating area is really stylish. The villa is a beautiful calm authentic retreat. The owners have thought of details other places don’t. For example, a fan over the room’s outdoor seating. Such care and attention deserves recognition.

The owners are very friendly, and they will try to create the best stay for you. Communication was sometimes a little challenging because of the language barrier, but you can definitely have an easy conversation with the man. The room is beautifully handmade by the owner and 2 other men, with tasteful design. The shower is very nice, with good water pressure and warm water. Everything was very clean and comfy.

It’s just a beautiful setting, perfectly designed for an oasis of peace and tranquility. The rooms are so spacious and my Mountain View room had really high ceilings. It was also furnished in a minimal way with authentic Cambodian pieces and artwork. Just stunning and so restful and pleasing on the eyes. You could rent a scooter for 8$ to 12$ a day. As others have mentioned, it’s a 10/12 minute ride from the centre. I really enjoyed coming back after a bust day sightseeing to this haven. We ate 3 evenings at the Villa as the food is incredibly tasty and flavourful and v fair prices. She’s an excellent cook! It is v relaxed so if you’re not in a hurry it’ll suit you. Naret and Sarong are constantly smiling and helpful.

The location out of the city was a perfect tranquil location and well worth the short ride from the centre. What sets Villa Romduol apart for us was our amazing hosts Naret and Sarong, who could not do enough for us to make our stay memorable. We loved the very tasty home cooked food prepared by Sarong.

As others have noted, every so often you come across a really special place, run by extra special people which is also extraordinary, wonderful value– and Villa Romdoul exactly fits that description. It is excellent (10/10) in every respect. If you are fortunate enough to find a free space (a choice of beautiful, spacious rooms with fan only, or even larger rooms with aircon) – then don’t hesitate, book – before someone else does.
