The property is a cool old house and the rooms have high ceilings with fans. Host is super attentive.

“Great Stay”

Lovely large room with comfortable beds and pillows. We were on the ground floor but there wasn’t a problem with noise at all. Room felt the most homely we’ve had in our travels. Nice lamps, pictures and even plants. Large tv with lots of channels. Great location. Would definitely recommend The Magic Sponge.

“Excellent place to stay”

The owner was friendly and the hospitality was excellent overall. The room was comfortable and had all the basics covered and more. The grounds were nice and good location.

Spotlessly clean room with a large comfortable bed and private bathroom. Good aircon and ceiling fan. Clothes rack, lamps, and kettle with tea and coffee. The room was cleaned everyday, towels were changed, and the water bottle refilled. The room has a TV with thousands of movies and TV shows available to watch. The owner is a lovely guy and makes you feel very welcome. The other staff are friendly and polite too. There's a restaurant onsite, which serves great food for a reasonable price. There are two pool tables and even a mini golf course. The location is good with a supermarket, and a laundry place nearby. The hotel is a 10 min walk from the riverside beach and lots of bars and restaurants. Another review mentioned that the hotel locks its gate at 8pm and that they had some difficulty managing the lock. It's literally just a standard padlock! There are no issues at all with opening the gate and coming and going as you please. Overall great value. Thank you William and staff for a very pleasant stay.

The property is run by William. He does all the booking, check ins and departures, he also finds time to run the restaurant, bar, maintenance, helpful tourist advice and booking of transport. He has a small team of staff which he looks after. Nothing is of any trouble and you are made to feel very welcome. The theme is to Chill out and that’s how you feel whilst staying at The Magic Sponge. The in room entertainment is top class and with the clearest of picture on the screen providing enough selection to keep you entertained. The food is of very high standard with an extensive menu using quality products than most hotel cheap brands. There are plenty of areas to enjoy around the grounds including crazy golf (9 hole) and 2 pool tables under the nice smelling pink jasmine pergola.

The person I booked on Booking.com for $25 tried to charge me $38 for the room, in cash, but I refused. They caused me problems; the owner was very grumpy.

“Clean and welcoming homestay in Kampot”

The host is a very friendly American man and helped to organis motorbike hire, taxi to the airport, and gave us a room upgrade. Welcome drinks were well appreciated. The fried cheese balls are delicious. Quiet street. Rooms are clean and spacious.

Very friendly, helpful owner. Extremely pretty bedroom. Huge range of food available. Excellent location, close to river, with ATM, supermarket and new bus station for VET buses from Phnom Penh extremely close. Lots of films and UK tv available if you want to watch tv!

“Just a one day stopover for us but wish we’d had longer as there is plenty to explore”

It started with the warm welcome and accompanying beer. William is a great host, ready to provide information on request but not in any way overwhelming. The bar was cool, the breakfast was indeed voluminous but also delicious. Really enjoyed the Kampot vibe too.

“A comfortable and pleasant stay”

The host is very friendly and good humoured! As well as having very clean rooms, the cuisine is excellent, with both Asian and Western dishes. The location in Kampot is also very good. The outdoor area of the guest house is really cosy.

The accommodation is a stylish and beautifully designed house in a quiet, centrally located area. William is an excellent host who takes care of all our needs. We felt very comfortable in his house.
