We chose this guesthouse because of its location and the traditional tatami rooms. We stayed for one night and were lucky to have the place to ourselves, as it was just my husband and me. If there had been other guests, it probably would have been a bit noisier. The host was very helpful and kindly allowed us to leave our rental car in the parking area for several days.

Super clean, well maintained house. Classical Japanese Tatami rooms (quite large). Our two rooms had a balcony as well. The host does not speak English but has great translation app, so communication was no problem. We missed the bus (because the schedule changed) so the host drove us to the trail head in his private car.

The house is nice but old so it can be noisy though that night we were only 3 guests. There is a kitchen with the basics and coffee in the morning. The host was really nice. The house is close from the train station and the bus stop going to Hongu.

The owner was lovely, helpful, and friendly, he thoughtfully had coffee prepared and ready in the morning which I really appreciated. The location was an excellent place for us to get started on the Kumano Kodo trail, very convenient location close to the train and the bus station. Excellent value for the price. I also really enjoyed staying in a more traditional place, really neat experience. Smoked cheese made by the owner is so delicious!

The bus stop is just a minute away, making it really convenient. The owner is incredibly friendly and even sells delicious homemade cheese. My room had a traditional Japanese setup with a futon, and having a private space was a nice perk. The kitchen is well-equipped, and with a supermarket nearby, it’s easy to cook or enjoy a morning coffee. A special highlight is the handcrafted table downstairs, made by the owner.

Simple japanese-style accommodation. I guess we were lucky because there were one Korean customers the first night and only the 3 of us the second night, because services were quite limited.

minutes walk from the bus station, some stores nearby. the building it self is really old so absolutely no noise isolation, we arrived at late summer, the breeze provid us with great comfort.

Very friendly owners. Everything was very clean and it is just a few steps from the main train station or the bus stop. Great stay for beginning the Kumano Kodo.
