We really enjoyed our stay at Atara Lagoon. It’s a great base for exploring Kalpitiya and the surrounding area. We did the Lagoon Boat Tour, which leaves right from outside the hotel, and it was a lovely experience. Our guide, Priyankara, was easy to talk to and showed us some really interesting spots around the lagoon. The location also worked well for our Wilpattu safari which was a short boat ride away, and made things very convenient for early travel. Our room was spacious and very clean, and we felt comfortable throughout our stay. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Dhananjaya looked after us while we were there and was always happy to help with anything we needed. Breakfast quickly became something we looked forward to each morning – especially the Sri Lankan roast paan with fresh coconut sambol. It was simple and delicious. Overall, we had a great stay and would happily recommend Atara Lagoon to others visiting the area. Especially if you want to do activities around Kalpitiya.

I had a wonderful stay at Atara Lagoon Hotel, Kalpitiya. The staff were truly amazing and made the entire experience very comfortable and memorable. A special mention to Dhananjaya — one of the best hotel staff members I have ever met. His hospitality, friendliness, and attention to detail were outstanding. The food was excellent, and the highlight for me was the crab curry. Absolutely delicious and full of flavor. Every meal felt freshly prepared and well presented. Overall, great service, warm staff, tasty food, and a relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommended, and I would definitely love to visit again.

Not much choice

“Great place”

Pool was lovely. Staff were excellent (especially Danenjaya) attentive and happy to help. We had wanted to book a snorkeling tour, but they checked and it would have been very poor visibility. Thus they didn't want to sell us an activity that wouldn't be good value. That honesty goes a long way. The restaurant is also excellent with top quality food.

Good team. Rooms clean and fully equipped (hot water😉). Nice big pool and garden.

Beautiful complex with a clean pool and excellent restaurant. The Sinhala breakfast was absolutely top. The beds were very comfortable and the staff was very accommodating and friendly.

Fantastic Little hotel, such good staff who are so helpful, excellent food to die for. Can't fault the place, helped with getting us to the beach, with travel arrangements etc. Great pool. Fantastic beach near by, but need a tuk tuk to get there.

An exceptionally clean, comfortable facility with a good pool. Shout out to Chef Chaturanga and owener Mario for making our stay comfortable. Dinner and breakfast we had at the hotel restaurant was of excellent quality.

“Not the resort we would want.”

Breakfast was good. But the hotel has a board outside saying it has a cafe. However, when we ordered a cappuccino for room service, was told that they have only black coffee. Calling it a cafe is a bit of a stretch. After a full day of sight seeing and being tired, we couldn't even get a decent coffee. Our children ordered a plate of french fries. That was good though.

“Excellent property and staff - can find no faults”

The staff were extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. We were travelling in a group of five with different dietary requirements and the couldn’t have been more helpful or obliging if they had tried. We went to the market and purchased our own fish and prawns which they cooked for us and severed as an amazing seafood platter. I can find no fault with this property or staff.
