“Incredibly relaxing, lovely staff & beautiful in the winter time”

We absolutely loved our Ryokan stay at Kagari Kisshotei. We were picked up from Kagaonsen station by the hotel, which made getting to Yamanakaonsen easy, as it's about a 20 minute drive from the station. The moment we walked into our room we felt relaxed, with a complimentary Sake to enjoy, as well as our own onsen on the balcony in our room - which was just magical with the river outlook, with everything covered in snow. The staff really connected with us and appreciated our Japanese language attempts throughout our stay, especially at our Kaiseki dinner, which was an amazing dining experience. We also booked the private onsen within the Ryokan, which is available to hotel guests in allocated time slots, which was also lovely to do after our Kaiseki dinner. Definitely worth the Half Board type stay with dinner & breakfast included.

The staff was super helpful and the courtesy Shuttle bus was very nicely organized! The rentable private bath is totally worth it! A must try!

All inclusive authentic Japanese overnight experience. Wouldn’t have missed this on my first trip to Japan

“Excellent stay”

Room was spacious and the bed was comfortable; different menu breakfast and dinner for 2 nights, nicely presented and delicious； in room onsen, private onsen, and public onsen are great, all staffs are friendly and helpful, especially Miss Tanaba was excellent, very caring and helpful for my wife.

Great location for riverside walk. Food was well cooked and very tasty with free flow of alcohol. The hotel interior, the room and onsen are very old and in need of some renovation.

Tanaba-san was exceptionally friendly and tried to assist and answer our questions. Facilities were also well maintained and cleaned. Shuttle bus service was great to bring us to Kaga onsen station.

Dinner including crab. superb! Different menu for 2 nights. nice food. Convenient shuttle bus. Just beside the river, at the entrance to river track walk. Beautiful view oversea the mountain and river side. Private onsen so refreshing.

In room private onsen bath was good. Big enough for 2 and easily add hot spring water as required. Pleasant trail walk along the river.

Loved stepping away from all the busy tourist areas. Booked a private onsen which was needed from all the walking. Great chance to relax. Lovely walk by the river and cute little town. Definitely off the beaten track. Plenty of food offered if you are wanting to experience the traditional Japanese cuisine.

Location and experience of Japanese food. Staff were so friendly towards our young daughter despite our inability to speak Japanese.

“A beautiful onsen with a stunning view in a charming town.”

This onsen town is so incredibly beautiful with its mountains, the river and of course the hot springs. Staff at the hotel were very efficient and lovely. One of the best parts about our stay was the coupons they gave us to use around the town. We tried local sake, beef croquettes from an awesome local butcher, soft serve and more. The onsen hotel itself was beautiful, the views are amazing and it was kind of empty when we went which was a bonus. Highly recommend booking the 45 min private bath session in the hinoki bath. It’s beautiful. Incredible traditional Japanese meals, lots and lots of food so come with a big appetite. Dinner came with all you can drink and all you can eat tempura. There were also lots of bonus things to enjoy in the hotel too eg happy hour, free pudding at night, free local desserts at certain times, free coffee and tea in the lobby. Also the shuttle bus to and from the station was awesome.

Nicely presented delicious breakfast. Salads are good and the food portion is sufficient. The staffs are fantastic, courteous and efficient.

We had a great vacation here, friendly and nice staff, good environment in and around hotel, many activities and drinks provide by the hotel. Highly recommend ;)

“Relaxing stay in beautiful surrounds.”

Had an enjoyable and relaxing stay here. We travelled from Osaka for one night, which was quite out of our way but we wanted to try the onsen experience. The onsen itself was quite empty when we went - I was often the only person there. The food was plentiful with an interesting range of dishes to try. We did the walk along the river which was a winter wonderland!

Unexpected nice and bountiful service, kind service people who tried their best to serve us in English.
