“Beautiful location and lovely experience”
Located overlooking the river in Yamancha, the setting was stunning. We loved the private Onsen bath in our room and wearing the traditional yakata. The food was beautifully presented.

The restaurant staff were amazing and helped us understand the offerings of the incredible Japanese style many course dinner. They catered for my fish allergies and were very understanding. The onsens were brilliant even for a first timer and the rules were clearly explained.

Really good location. The place was clean. The staff friendly and the room a really good size. The private bath was a particular treat. Nearby the walk along the river was incredibly scenic and two restaurants, Suzume and Yakiniku Sansenri, were some of the best meals we ate all holiday.

The open-air baths were, of course, phenomenal, and an absolute reason to visit. However, we were also blown away by the hospitality of the staff and the dedication they put into ensuring a comfortable stay. The Japanese-style room was huge and atmospheric, though be prepared to sleep "on the ground" (futon) - we find that very nice, though. Both breakfast and dinner were also fantastic. Finally, Yamanaka is a beautiful little village, and is just big enough that you can explore it through a comfortable day of strolling, interspersed with the occasional return to the onsen to refresh with a hot bath. A great visit.

“Clean, comfy and amazing experience”
We had a truly unforgettable stay at this ryokan. From the moment we arrived, the attention and care from the staff were exceptional. We are especially grateful to the young woman who kindly assisted us in English—she was incredibly helpful and patient, especially since it was our first time staying in a traditional Japanese setting and we were a bit clumsy with the customs. Thanks to her and the whole team, we felt completely comfortable and welcomed throughout our stay. The room with a private onsen and sauna was absolutely incredible, offering stunning views that made the experience even more special. The traditional dinners and breakfasts were both delicious and plentiful—each meal was a true feast, beautifully presented and full of flavor. The area around the ryokan is also beautiful and peaceful, perfect for a walk or simply to relax and take in the atmosphere. We also really appreciated the convenient shuttle service to and from Kagaonsen Station—it made the logistics of getting there effortless. We wholeheartedly recommend this ryokan to anyone looking for a warm, authentic, and luxurious Japanese experience

“Beautiful scenery, excellent meals, very relaxing”
It was very clean, the scenery was absolutely stunning. The meals were excellent, made with local products. The place is super nice in itself, and the staff is delightful. It was my birthday, and they gave me a photograph of me and my mother. I appreciate it a lot! The shuttle bus is super easy to find as well.

“Perfect relaxing and traditional experience”
We went there to experience a japanese traditional hotel, as well as to rest after 10 days in Tokyo region, before going to another 10 days of walking in Kyoto-Osaka-Hiroshima region. Overall, was the perfect experience... The shuttle from JR station to the hotel has a great schedule. The staff was very nice and available, the room marvelous and traditional, very spacious also. The surroundings of the hotel are beautyfull and great for a walk in the woods by the river. The public onsen of the hotel is relaxing and an amazing experience (we went 3 times in 2 nights). The view from the room also wonderfull. This was the most expensive hotel (per night) we had in our 25 days japan trip, but worth it! I recommend it to everyone. I think 2 nights are perfect to rest and enjoy the experience, with breakfast included. Breakfast has like 14 different things in front of you, and change each day. You can try lots of different stuff from Japan.

“The onsen is good. The dinner set is a bit too much for female traveller.”
It would be better if it offers ala carte menu for dinner.

“Established name multi-level Ryokan serves meals with high-quality seasonal regional produce.”
Highest quality seasonal and regional ingredients used for all meals. Tatami rooms faced the river gorge and if there are clear night skies, the stars fill your view from the room balcony. Outdoor common baths overlook the river gorge for bracingly frigid breezes during night baths in the cold season. Also a short walk to the nearest supermart if you need more after-dinner drinks, snacks or ice cream.

“A Brief Yet Enriching Stay in Kaga-onsen”
Kaga-onsen is a small town that unfortunately offers little in terms of tourist attractions, aside from its numerous luxurious ryokan featuring onsen. A couple of days is more than enough to fully explore the area and enjoy some nature excursions. The restaurant is of high quality, boasting an extensive menu that surprised us with the variety of dishes. The Japanese-style breakfast may not suit everyone; as Italians, we're used to lighter, sweeter breakfasts, which is quite the opposite here. Still, it’s an experience worth having! The onsens are stunning, just like in the photos. They are not the first we have visited, but I must say these pleasantly surprised me, especially the outdoor baths. Additionally, I enjoyed chatting with some elderly gentlemen during our soak. Despite my limited Japanese and their few English words, we managed to have a pleasant and unusual conversation! The kindness of the staff is truly valuable. I recommend a short stay to relax between city visits.
