We had the most incredible stay at The Cloud Resort it truly exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was absolutely outstanding. The team made us feel so welcome and cared for throughout our entire stay, and nothing was ever too much trouble. A special mention has to go to Inthizar, who went above and beyond for us. He kindly took us to watch the most breathtaking sunset a moment we’ll never forget and even days after we had checked out, he was still helping us with recommendations and support. That level of genuine care is so rare and made our experience incredibly special. The room itself was beautiful spotless, comfortable, and perfectly designed to make the most of the stunning surroundings. Waking up to those views felt like something out of a dream. And the food… wow. Absolutely incredible. Every meal was full of flavour, beautifully presented, and clearly made with so much care. It was honestly some of the best food we’ve had during our time in Sri Lanka. This place is more than just a hotel — it’s an experience. The combination of breathtaking views, amazing food, and truly heartfelt hospitality makes it somewhere we will always remember. We cannot recommend it highly enough and would return in a heartbeat.

A wonderful stay at The Cloud Resort We had a fantastic stay at The Cloud Resort in Sri Lanka. The hotel is truly charming and located in an exceptional place on a cliff, surrounded by beautiful nature and stunning views. One of the highlights was watching the breathtaking sunrises and sunsets from this unique location – absolutely unforgettable. The owner is incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful. He went out of his way to make our stay special and even prepared a birthday cake for our son, which was a very thoughtful and touching gesture. The food at the hotel was excellent. Everything we tried was delicious, but the shrimp omelette deserves a special mention – it was simply outstanding. If you are looking for a peaceful, scenic place with great hospitality and amazing food, we highly recommend The Cloud Resort. It’s a place we would happily return to.

We had a lovely stay at the cloud resort. The view is really stunning with a sunrise watch directly from bed!! The food is amazing and the manager and staff so incredibly friendly and caring. We really enjoyed our time to the fullest. It was also perfect for our 5 month old baby. Make sure to stay there when being around the Candy area. 10/10 recommendation!

“Unbelievable views”

This is a little slice of heaven up in the hills with absolutely incredible views. The sunrise here alone is worth the journey. There is so much creativity in the buildings and the owners were very accommodating, they offered to take us on sunset hikes , tea factory tours as well as cater to our food preferences. The pool wasn’t finished being built yet but you could see how stunning it will be once finished.

The Overall stay was amazing. The room, the location, the view and especially the hotel manager Mr. Intihzar. He will make your stay very fulfilling. I was amazed to see his hospitality and management. It was an amazing experience. The Room was exceptionally clean. The breakfast was amazing, English or Sri Lankan but the taste of the food was out of this world.

“Beautiful place set in Nature”

What an absolutely stunning place this is. We wanted to stay a lot longer. Set up in the hills away from the hubbub of Kandy, is this tranquil place surrounded by nature, yet only a 35 minute tuk tuk ride from the city. The room is outstanding and has a glass wall so you can lay in bed and see the beautiful sunrise in the morning. There is a large platform to chill and enjoy the monkeys playing in the morning. The food was exquisite, we had breakfast and dinner in our room and also in the restaurant. The chef is terrific. The real highlight of this hotel is inthizar who runs it. He could not have done more for us and even took us out for the day, showed us plants, herbs and banana's! (Who knew there were so many different varieties!) The tea factory he took us to was really intimate and we had a really immersive experience there, which was so much better than a big tea plantation tour. He also took us to a temple which we would never have found on our own. An absolute gem of a place from the room, the nature, the staff, the food and of course Inthi. We would stay here again in a heartbeat

“The best place you will stay in Sri Lanka”

Our stay at The Cloud resort was the highlight of our 2 week trip. The location is breathtaking and the rooms are beautiful, the pictures don’t do the justice. The staff were incredibly kind and friendly, taking us on short walks for spectacular sunsets and incredible views. To top it off, the food was delicious….possibly the best of our trip. If I could give 11/10 I would!

We stayed at The Cloud Resort 2 nights and we didn't want to leave... Inthizar, the host, is very friendly, kind and thoughtful. On the road to the resort he sent us all the instructions so that we could find our way to the place, called us to make sure we don't get lost and even sent one of the staff members to meet us when we did get a little lost 😅 On our first day he showed us around the resort and told us about his plans for further extension and development of the territory (hope, they'll manage to turn them all into reality). He also brought us to a tea factory and to view point to see the sunset, where he took some nice pictures of us. The breakfasts we had were all homemade and delicious as well as the dinners. On our last evening the host and his team organised a dinner with candles for us on the terrace of our lodge 😊 And the views - of course, they are breathtaking. Misty mountains and green valleys in the morning, you can watch the sun rising right from the rocking bed in the lodge (that lulls you softly at night) or from the sunbeds on the terrace. Apes, mongooses and birds come right to the terrace in the morning, so you can watch them in their natural life. All in all, we're stunned by the beauty and serenity of the place, we'd definitely come back!

“Heaven above clouds”

The Cloud Resort was one of our last stays in Sri Lanka and, by far, the best one (and all the others were already good). Would give a 100 if I could. 1) The view from the restaurant and room was unbeatable. Animals (monkeys, plenty of birds, and mongoose) were daily visitors. 2) The food served (breakfast and dinner) was by far the best! We probably had the most extravagant rice and curry on our journey, with passion fruit leaves sombol and breadfruit curry (which we had never had before and were totally excited about the taste). In my opinion, the quality is comparable to that of high-class restaurants. 3) the owner was very polite and warm-hearted. Good English skills made communication very easy. We visited a tea factory (at no extra charge), took a very nice tour of its own „spice garden,“ and went to a sunset point. We felt very welcome. 4) also important of sri Lanka: stable WiFi (!, also for work (eg web conferences) and streaming) hot shower, AC! 5)family friendly! We've been there with our 2.5yo son. Everyone looked after him and played with him. If we had known about this place before, we would have skipped (busy, loud, smoggy) Kandy and stayed here longer. Since Kandy is not that far from The Cloud Resort (and, except for the tooth temple, has little to see), a day trip to Sigeriya, Dambulla, Kandy, and Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage can also be done from the Cloud. We will come back!

We had an absolutely unforgettable stay in this stunning mountain accommodation, with a breathtaking view directly from the bed. We spent two nights there and were lucky enough to admire the sunrise twice without even leaving our room — a truly magical and timeless moment. The terrace is also beautiful and perfect for relaxing while enjoying the scenery. Inthizar is an extraordinary host. He cooks everything on site, from breakfast to dinner, preparing delicious local food with great passion. He even surprised us with a romantic dinner on the terrace, which was an unforgettable experience. We spent two lovely evenings chatting with him and two other travelers, as the atmosphere was so warm and the company so pleasant. This place is by far the best accommodation of our entire trip, both for its beauty and for the exceptional hospitality. Lovely staff at the hotel who were very helpful and took us to a nearby tea factory which was great! Food was absolutely delicious. We got upgraded to an a frame room which was amazing and we spent a lot of time in the room, but if we were in our original room (the hobbit) then we might’ve struggled as the communal areas are all outdoors and it was rainy!

We had a truly amazing time at the cloud resort! The place has stunning views and is the perfect place to relax and wind down. The staff is very hospitable, diligent and kind. The food is 100% homemade and scrumptiously delicious. The beds are comfortable. I highly recommend this place and definitely want to come back. It was a perfect start for our holidays.

The owner was so attentive and caring, went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable - from cooking and serving food in our beautiful room, to letting us borrow his kitten for a few hours, to offering a hike to see the sunset. Such a beautiful location, it is simply wonderful!

We stayed 1 night at the cloud, the views were absolutely amazing inside the room and outside of the room. The owner was very attentive even before we arrived at the cloud, really spent his time engaging with you about the surroundings, the resort and the spices and tea in the area. He couldn’t have done enough for you. Always at the end of the phone and even when we had left he wanted to know if we had reached our next destination safely due to the weather conditions and still was available if we needed anything. We had dinner in the room which was a traditional Sri Lankan dinner which was very yummy. We had a little family of lizards in the room which was equally lovely to hear them, could see bats flying outside catching the flies which was nice to watch. In the morning we were greeted by a gang of monkeys which was funny to watch and get some great pictures as they come up to the windows.
