Overview
Boasting natural hot spring baths that look out to surrounding mountains, Hanamomiji offers traditional Japanese-style accommodation in Jozankei. Various facilities like outdoor swimming pool, sauna and a gift shop are available. Free WiFi is provided in the public area. Fitted with tatami (woven-straw) flooring and traditional futon bedding, all rooms come with heating facilities, a flat-screen TV and a low table. The en suite bathroom has a bathtub and free toiletries. Hanamomiji Ryokan provides a 24-hour front desk services and free luggage storage. Guests can reserve one of the cosy family hot spring baths at an additional charge. Karaoke facilities and a game room are available at the main building Shika-no-yu. The ryokan is a 50-minute drive or free shuttle ride from Sapporo. Shin Chitose Airport is a 90-minute drive away. Guests can enjoy seasonal Japanese dinner prepared with fresh ingredients from Hokkaido, which is served in the restaurant, a private dining room or in the guest room depending on the rate type and availability. The breakfast buffet includes Japanese and Western dishes.

We enjoyed the room and the onsen, both of which were relaxing and had a lot of charm. The property has great potential and appears to have been a wonderful destination in its prime.

Amazing facilities - breakfast and dinner included. The private onsen was so worth it!! Free parking, nice food, comfortable futons that sent me to a whole dreamland I’d never experienced before… Hadn’t slept so deeply in such a long time..

“River-spirit kingdom!”
The staff were attentive and kind. There are three or four onsen of various sizes and design, including one or two outdoor baths. Dinner generous and delicious, as well as being beautiful to the eyes with all the Japanese pottery of different colors etc. Breakfast is a buffet, but it was very good and included an array of western, Japanese, and typically regional Hokkaido offerings. The town is picturesque with a semi-neglected Shinto shrine surrounded by forest, a riverside park with hot spring footpaths and, during the nights summer months, a pretty and enchanting light show dedicated to the KAPPA river spirit. There is art by well known regional artists from the 1920s to the present displayed throughout the premises; that stimulates the mind and moves the heart. The hospitality includes not only the very gracious staff but also complementary wines, liqueurs, juices, saltines and nuts, all available in a relaxing setting surrounded by jazz or classical music and a nice view.

The onsens are beautiful, in particular the onsen on 2/F. The resting area in the lobby equipped with good speakers and make me relax after the dinner. The dinner and breakfast are good.

“Allow yourself to relax and rejuvenate in Jozankei!”
1. Staff members were very professional and attentive. 2. Our room was very spacious. 3. There are various hike trails in the vicinity. 4. The free shuttle from Sapporo. 5. The classical music and free drinks in the CD lounge, along with the library space.

“Spacious and lovely room, and lots of facilities. Some pitfalls faced related to food but overall very comfortable!”
The room was massive, clean and generally well-kept. The amenities and facilities were great, there were multiple activity rooms like a small arcade and table tennis, and a nice area to relax in the lobby with complimentary drinks. The private onsen was quite easy to book and was very nice.

The hotel was very spacious, within Jozankei it’s got a fantastic location because it’s right next to the bus stops that takes you to Sapporo as well as Koukusai Ski Resort which was the purpose of our visit. It’s got fantastic dinners. The lobby has a music area that offers free drinks for you to relax, and free manju as well!

“Amazing stay”
Great stay, very cosy, great customer service and amenities. They have 3 different onsens and some massage chairs available. Definitely recommended. Good to have a stroll around the area too
