An old-ish apartment building converted to a hostel, it's good bang for your buck. Keep your expectations modest and you'll be happily surprised by the size of the rooms and especially the location. If you just need a place to crash and have breakfast, it's perfect.

It's a simple dormitory apartment with a well equipped kitchen, single beds, a desk and most of the things you need for a short stay. The basic sports equipment in the closet was the best thing that I've never seen anywhere else before. Typical Finnish breakfast that's included into the price is also a plus.

We were in Finland for the first time and the whole country is awesome. The Islo Hostel was the best choice for us, as it was close to the center on foot and had breakfast. The hostel is well-equipped and clean, the staff is very kind and helpful.

The staff were amazing, such a good selling point. The hostel itself was well run and clean and tidy. The breakfast was great. My apartment was very good and had a private balcony. The staff organised the sauna for me too, which was brilliant. I would recommend this hostel very highly.

This is lovely well managed Finnish hostel with local flavour. Had one room (shared kitchen and bathroom with another, no other guest appeared). I like its modesty, it does not try to look posh, like many hotels and AirBNbs. Modesty is perfoformed with style. Kitchen was well equipped to make dinner. Breakfast is good, local, eco-friendly, and personel unique, lovely. It's surely value for your money.

The whole staff was extremely nice and helpful the whole time. The room was way bigger than i expected. With a nice small kitchen and bathroom. It was super clean and not noisy at all. The sauna was nice too. It got more the feeling of a hotel than of a hostel. I can highly recommend a stay there. I had to leave early in the morning and they brought me a breakfast the day before to me room. It was more variety than I expected. Super kind of them!! I will definitely stay there again! :)

Man from the reception was friendly and nice. I stayed for 1 night but asked if i could leave my car in the backyard after check out till the evening. Hostel is within walking distance to the city centre and Riveria college.

I traveled with my children and ISLO Finnhostel Joensuu exceeded all the expectations! "family room" was indeed a small apartment with 2 bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom :). In addition, there was a big common room with games, toys, books, big TV and sports facilities. Breakfast was included and we could also reserve a sauna in the evening.
