Very good value for money. Well equipped kitchen with a dining area. Bright and spacious room with clean bathroom. Very dog friendly establishment. Short walk to local pub and pizza place but not open New Years Eve! :-)

Unfortunately, this place didn't meet our expectations. Our requests were left without response and we didn't feel that we are taken care of by the Pension. Despite high marks on this platform our stay was disappointing due to the aforementioned reasons.

“Rustic accommodations in a quaint Danish village”

Situated in the quiet, peaceful village of Jels, one finds a rather unique property, old but newly renovated. This was my second time staying at Pension Slotsgaarden, and I was pleasantly surprised to see how much their renovations have progressed since my first visit. I expect that, if this continues, this will become an absolute top-tier establishment ere too long. My room (a different one this time) was simple but clean, quiet, and with a nice and well-functioning bathroom attached. In fact, if one is unhappy with their room, the proprietors seem very willing to let you choose a different one. A storm passed overhead during the night, but the thick massive walls of the building damped most sound, and the next morning beckoned afresh, with only the inquiry from the owner on whether I would like to have breakfast? I did not, but the communal kitchen is a wonderful place to strike up a conversation with other guests. There are several restaurants in town, I found the pizza place to be an excellent option.

The farm is on the edge of town, easy walking to reach the supermarket and pizza restaurant. My room was in a converted cow barn, it had character and was comfortable. The kitchen for self-made breakfast is well equipped, and a clean refrigerator for use. Good wifi and a great host. Very good value.

“Experience the Danish countryside up close”

Our check-in was slightly chaotic due to an event going on in part of the building, but we soon found our very kind host who helped us find a room and get parked up. They very considerately offered us a larger room, more away from the event, and it ended up not being a bother to us. Pension Slotsgaarden appears to be run by a small family who live there, and who were all most pleasant. This especially applies to their dog, who apparently enjoys meeting new people, or at least new people who may give him treats. We ended up staying in a large loft room, well-aired out after the day's heat, and ended up having dinner (take-away from the local pizzeria) on the balcony overlooking the garden. The town is quite small and quiet, and Pension Slotsgaarden offers an excellent opportunity to stay in the Danish countryside. Breakfast was great, with fresh local produce and delicious breads and coffee.

Pretty farm with a rural setting on the edge of a small town. Not expensive and good shared DIY facilities for a meal in situ.
