“Excellent value, fabulous hospitality!”

What a great place! We’ve stayed at a number of hotels in Zanzibar over the years and what sets this beautiful, cozy hotel apart is the excellent management. The facilities are awesome and the hospitality is even better! Throughout our stay, the pool was perfectly clean and the backup solar panels and generator helped things run smoothly even when city power went off (as happens in Zanzibar.) The massive baobab trees are so beautiful and special, the highlight of the property. And the price was a great value. We enjoyed our time at Baobab Bungalows much! Thank you so much, Barbara and team, for such a wonderful stay!

The quietness of the location and the proximity to the beach.. The way in which the staff looked after you. The apartment itself and the surrounding pool area were stunning. The breakfast was fab! Barbara the host was extremely helpful with everything - from arranging taxis and helping to organise trips.

Thank you so much Barbara! We spent five wonderful days in this guesthouse, breakfasting under a baobab tree, sleeping to the sounds of birds, and breathing in the ocean from the balcony. Barbara gave us a Rolex, a traditional Uganda dish, as well as chapatis, ginger tea, and amazing mango juice. A huge thank you to all the staff. Sorry for waking you up late at night when we were leaving on safari, and thank you for continuing to show us your hospitality. Best wishes and blessings to the guesthouse! We remember you with great warmth.

Barbara is a fantastic host - kind, helpful and very knowledgeable. The breakfasts were such a treat each day and excellent quality. There’s a lovely pool. The location is perfect with a short walk down to the beach, where you can find lots of very good restaurants and bars. We had a lovely holiday and we’re hoping to return next year!

A peaceful and beautiful stay, tucked away in a quiet spot. A short walk to the beach, and surrounded by many restaurant options. We wish we knew about this spot earlier in our trip. The staff were so kind, caring and helpful. If you have the option for breakfast TAKE IT, it is 10/10.

I spent 8 days in Jambiani, Zanzibar, and I had a truly great experience. Everyone was incredibly helpful from the beginning until the end of my stay. No matter what question I had, they were always ready to assist with a smile. The beach is very close, which made everything even more enjoyable. The accommodation was absolutely adequate and comfortable for my stay. Overall, I can only recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxed and friendly atmosphere in Zanzibar.

Very serene

We stayed at Baobab Bungalow for one month as a couple and rented the studio — and we can highly recommend it. The studio is very spacious and equipped with everything you need for a comfortable long stay. It truly feels like a home away from home. The value for money is outstanding — we honestly believe it’s hard to find a better price-performance ratio anywhere else on the island. The entire property is always very well maintained and beautifully kept. The breakfast is delicious and offers a great start to the day. What really makes this place special, though, is the staff. Everyone is incredibly kind and welcoming — from the night porter to the housekeeping team and the General Manager. You genuinely feel cared for throughout your stay. We would definitely come back and can warmly recommend Baobab Bungalow to anyone looking for a relaxed and high-quality stay.

Beautiful layout and design of the property, really nice pool, super close to the beach, stable internet and the host was amazing with helping to rent a car and Accommodating me and my friends. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast nice, there is good AC and it’s the price is extremely good for what you get

“A home away from home !”

We couldn’t have dreamt of a better place to kick off our honeymoon! We felt extremely safe and comfortable at Baobab Bungalows, and found it was a true haven of peace. Barbara, our manager, was always eager to make sure we had the best time possible without any worry - hakuna matata ! It is very easy to book activities: they take charge of everything (driver, guide, etc.), at very fair prices. The drivers are always right on time, which helps to have no stress. Baobab is also super close to Jambiani beach, one of the best spots for kite surfers: it’s only a 5 min walk to get there, which makes the location ideal. We saw some people complaining in their reviews about power cuts; but they never lasted more than a few minutes, and they happen everywhere on the island (including in fancy restaurants). The fact that there is no restaurant on site was also no problem, as they are multiple restaurants very close by (3 to 5 min walk). We actually thought it made for a more quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Basically, we had a great time: we wholeheartedly recommend Baobab Bungalows to anyone visiting Zanzibar and looking for a unique experience of serenity, comfort and warmly welcoming vibes. A true home away from home !

“Everything you would want and more!”

We loved everything! From the villa, to the staff, and to the host, everything was just perfect. Even before going Barbara offered us all the info that we needed to know, upon our arrival she was waiting for us and made sure everything was as we expected. The communication with her was exceptional. When we wanted to leave early in the morning for different day trips she made sure that we had breakfast prepared. When we wanted to visit some location she ordered us a taxi, even made us nail appointments! The staff is always smiling and they really focus on making the experience as nice as possible. The villa was just like in the pictures, if not even better!

Lovely common area, open pool. Nice room, got everything necessary. Lovely Host, Barbara, you can talk to her about everything you need and she’ll take care of it!

“Quiet, comfortable and relaxing”

The breakfast was fresh and diversified, the cofe was superb, the pool - the heart of the hotel, was clean and comfortable both for kids and adults. Barbara manage this small hotel with great skill and experiance. It is clean everythere and every thing is in order - water is running well, it is pure and hot, electricity is powerfull enough and may be supplied from generator. Thus you don't meet problems common for the island. Small kitchen has every thing you need. The a/c are modern and noiseless though we din't need them much. And the private terrace was the favorit place to stay for our family. We were choosing between two options - the hotel with the pool and the hotel at the ocean front. We opted for the pool and were lucky because the beach (close enough from our bungalow) was not very good during low tide and midday heat.

The host Barbara is excellent, she is friendly and was open to help us with our requests. She also helped us to rent the car and provided needed driving permits. The property it self is calm, clean and beautiful. There are a lot of plants at the territory.

The host Barbra was very good, welcomed us with a big smile, the staffs were all happy. B/fast was good, you receive b/fast menu and could be served in your room or go to the b/fast area outside which the tables were traditional, i loved them The rooms were spacious and clean.

“Lovely accommodation at Baobab”

Barbara was a very welcoming and helpful host, very lovely person. I stayed for 3 nights at Baobab Bungalows to wrap up my 4 weeks travels, and also managed to get a late check out as my departure was later in the evening. This was a very helpful touch, especially that I got pretty sick at the end and had to rest a lot. The loft that I booked was beautiful, with a sea view from the bed and lots of greenery. The bed itself was very comfortable and big. The bathroom was lovely, with a nice spacious shower and a pretty big kitchen. Two balconies on either side of the loft with chairs was also perfect. The swimming pool was glorious! 5min walk to the beach and 10min drive to Paje by tuktuk. It was definitely worth the peace and quiet after 3 weeks running non stop. Asante sana!!! :)
