I had a great stay at Aurora Boutique Hotel Jambiani. The room was very spacious, comfortable, and perfect for relaxing. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was calm and peaceful, making it easy to truly unwind and enjoy the stay. Breakfast was delicious, with a good selection and a lovely start to the day. A special thank you to the host (Marissa), who was incredibly kind, welcoming, entertaining, and attentive, always making sure everything was comfortable and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and comfortable stay in Zanzibar.

I chose Aurora Hotel in Zanzibar because of its excellent food reviews, eco-conscious approach, and intimate, small-property atmosphere — and I was not disappointed. In fact, everything exceeded my expectations. From the start, communication was exceptionally smooth. Melissa, the owner, reached out before my arrival and made everything feel effortless. She even went above and beyond by helping with my art project—connecting me with local contacts and personally taking me to a deserted beach to film. Her kindness and involvement were truly remarkable. The seafood, prepared by chef and co-owner Simone, was absolutely delicious. Every meal was a highlight. I highly recommend having breakfast, lunch, and dinner on-site; the food alone is worth the stay. The property is very well kept, with a beautifully maintained garden and thoughtful design throughout. They even upgraded my room because the nearby bar might get loud on weekends — such a considerate gesture. The Wi-Fi was strong enough to work comfortably from my room or even around the pool throughout the day. No air conditioning was needed at all; the combination of the ceiling fan and the fresh sea breeze made sleeping perfectly comfortable. All in all, Aurora Hotel offered a most personal and memorable stay. Warm hosts, exceptional food, eco-minded values, and a truly welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Perfect location for a safe and beautiful beach destination. The daily short walk through the local village to the beach was one of the highlights of my stay as the locals were so friendly and I was able to have a little glimpse into village life as people went about their day. A short walk from the village were some local craft shops and stores. The beach was quiet and picturesque, equally nice for sunbathing or walking with nearby options for kite surfing or snorkelling. The hotel was impeccably clean, the rooms had everything you could need and really comfy beds and seating areas. The pool was cleaned daily and was really nice to swim in. The staff were all friendly and helpful. I chose half board as others had got poorly from eating from nearby restaurants/ street food. At Aurora they use filtered water for drinks, ice, cooking etc. The menu was fresh and changed daily and the food was of a very high restaurant standard, with fresh fish, meat and Italian dishes as options. The area is a good balance of locals and few tourists. Being a short walk from the beach was a blessing as the tide can come in high, it can get windy and at night it is pitch black. . The owners, Marissa and Simon do all they can to personalise your stay, always available to chat, offer advise or book tours/taxis etc, I felt nothing was too much trouble and they supported their staff like they were family. They arranged for my transfers, helped me change gdp and booked a once in a lifetime day on the mainland for me to do a safari for my birthday. I highly recommend staying here for a local yet "looked after" experience.

Aurora boutique hotel Set in a nice garden, this lovely hotel features a few spacious rooms overlooking the swimming pool. Attention to details is evident everywhere around the property, spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. Friendly and helpful staff as well as the owners, Marisa and Simone, the restaurant chef. Delicious breakfast and a very distinctive dinner menu. Beach in walking distance, private parking available. Definitely recommended!

“Lovely eco responsible place”

Marissa’s warm welcome and the place. The fact that Aurora Boutique Hotel is eco responsible is a plus. The food was delicious.

Cosy little place near Jambiani beach. The place itself is wonderful for a few relaxed days. Hakuna Matata but with attention to details and focus on the client's needs. Most wonderful hosts, always very attentive and super sympathetic. Rooms are so boutique and so well maintained, facing this blue pool where we spent an amazing time. As we did at the restaurant where chef Simon creates the most delicious food, using local stuff and giving it an Italian tasteful twist. Nice experience. Marisa and Simon are the soul of this place which we totally recommend. The beach has its beauty on low tide... on high tide may not be the most beautiful beach of this amazing Island. 😍

“The hotel is good, but...”

The Aurora Hotel is a very beautiful hotel, 5 minutes walk from Jambiani beach. It's clean, the à la carte breakfast is very good and the pool, even though it's not very big, is also very relaxing and has warm water. My low score has nothing to do with the hotel itself but with what I will describe in the negative aspects.

“Comfortable hotel well located in Jambiani with good restaurant”

Location very good and comfortable stay in Jambiani. Host was very helpful in booking taxis and recommending and organising activities for us. Staff were friendly and included breakfast was good, also they have a restaurant for dinner which has a lot of options.

Small hotel with personal touch. Well located to discover the beauty of Zanzibar. Marissa took us out to visit a non-touristic village. Nice to meet the locals.

The Breakfast was superb, The, fresh juice, the fruits and their Bread? it tasted homemade, I really liked it. They have a very good Garden, the trees... a very nice swimming pool, the place was so homely. The couple that owns the place, are so lovely and friendly people who ensured we had an exceptional experience.

We loved our time at Aurora. Marissa is a great host and instantly made us feel welcome and Simon is a fabulous chef. The hotel has a really relaxing vibe, the pool was a welcome respite from the heat and the rooms was spotlessly clean. The hotel is a short walk through the village to the beach. If we return to Jambiani we will absolutely stay at Aurora again 🙂
